'baby aspirin' did anyone take this to help concieve??

Quick update about me, ttc for 5 years, have unexplained, did first round of ivf that sadly failed. Most of the eggs they got from me fertilized but the one embie we had transferred on day 5 sadly didn't implant.

We have been doing some research online and lots of women take 'baby aspirin to help the process whether it for miscarriages or implanting and some ivf clinics even issue it although my clinic didn't.

Just wondered has anyone took this to help concieve, is it worth a try and if it did work for u how long did u take it for?? Be so grateful to have some opinions on this??

My ivf nurse said I could try it, it wouldn't harm me ( we have until the spring to try and concieve naturally before round two) although my ivf doctor said it makes no difference and I'm wasting my time, although I seem to trust the nurses opinion more..- just can't warm to the doctor, I don't find her very helpful xx

Oh and change your DR if you can. IVF is a very, very intense experience (6 times here) and you need to be able to trust your DR implicitly to give you all the options available.

Excuse my thickness but what is 'baby aspirin'?? Like regular aspirin?
How does it help?

It's a low dose (excuse medical ignorance). It's to assist with blood thinning that could cause miscarriage.

I had a blood test and it suggested that I could be prone to miscarriage.

I see, so you can't buy it off the shelf then? It should be prescribed?

You can buy it over the counter but you have to ask for it, it doesn't have to be prescribed.

To change my doc I would have to change clinics would would be a shame as everyone else is lovely but the doctor is rather negative. I have had numourous tests by my local hosp and my local doctor everything came back normal then when we started going to this clinic I had a random scan to then be told I have low egg reserve, no-one had mentioned this before and its all this doctors mentions rather negatively.
In my view to have most of my eggs fertilize I was amazed and I have come to the conclusion it could be the implanting that is the issue but she told me its mostly down to luck that it doesn't implant.

Fair dos. But I should tell you I had 4 rounds with a doctor. Each one failed. I started to keep a spreadsheet and a pattern emerged. After implantation, I would get a cramping feeling after 2 days.

I discussed this with my doctor. Was dismissed out of hand. She wouldn't hear any suggestions or make suggestions on change of process. DH and I had a major row about whether or not to stay with her, against his wishes we did and another round followed the same pattern.

A chance conversation at a do led us to another doctor in the same hospital. He LISTENED. Then he threw everything he had at the problem, including the 2 day issue.

Round 6 was a success.

Could have been the odds. But it was fabulous to have an ally.

Not so fabulous running into Doctor 1 en route to theatre for egg harvest but shit happens

thankyou for saying a prayer, we certainly need it. Congrats again, so glad it eventually worked for you, how funny running into doctor one. Thats how i feel with my doctor, shes just not listening!! we are very fortunate to have a few goes on the nhs and i often wonder if her attitude would be different if we were private patients. anyway until my nxt round i'm going to continue taking the aspirin and see what happens xx
