Just did one of those pee-in-a-cup-then-stick-it-in cheapy internet tests and it has the faintest pink line on it....I mean so faint that I need to squint to see it (but I am pretty myopic Smile). Has anyone had a false positive with these before? Do they need to be quite dark to be positive?

A line is a line is a line! I've used internet cheapies for all mine, the lines started off very faint but grew stronger over the next week. Basically if you can see any colour to the line at all, it's a bfp! If it's grey/shadowy it could be an evap lineor an indentation but it usually isn't!

Congrats!

oh god, wow! Shock thanks! think I'm gonna test again just to be sure though...

If it's pink, no matter how faint, it means there is pregnancy-hormones in your wee. The stick only reacts to that.
My super-faint internet cheapie dipstick is currently 12 weeks old and snoring away next to me...
Congratulations!

Ok - did another test and this one was negative Confused. And it was a LOT more expensive than the internet cheapy! So - was I never pregnant? Or have I suddenly not become pregnant??

A line is a line! You can't have a false positive on any preg test (cheapy or not) as you either have the hormone in you wee or you don't.

Congratulations Grin

Rumtum, the hcg in evening wee is less concentrated than first morning wee, you need to do it in the morning. Many internet cheapies are more sensitive than the expensive ones, so don't assume that you aren't pregnant, just either use another internet cheapy stick tomorrow with first morning urine, or wait a couple of days and use another expensive one. But honestly if you saw a line the first time, you more than likely are pregnant, don't worry!

The only thing I would say is that now and then, because pregnancy tests are getting so sensitive, they can pick up a chemical pregnancy, which is when things start to get going but then fail at some very very early stage, and you get your period as normal (or very slightly heavier/later than normal) but I doubt that's what it is, I'm sure you just need to use first morning wee that's all! Good luck and update us Smile

I only ever got one evap line on a cheapy but that was definitely grey. I agree most likely thing is that your urine was more concentrated with the first test. When is/was AF due?

Fwiw my very fuzzy line is now 26 weeks and kicking me hard! I'd test again with FMU.
