Anyone had trouble conceiving after m/c?

So I had a mmc (at 10 weeks) last July and my periods returned 28 days later and have had pretty regular ones since, but have failed to get preg again. The thing is I got preg pretty much on first try 3 times before (2DC, 1 mmc), so it is unusual for me. (I have used OPKs so know we are timing it right)

I feel like my hormones may not be right, as I am getting worse PMT each month and spotting before AF, despite being regular as I said.
Anyone experienced this? and how long did it take to get back to normal or did you have to take action to return to normal? Can a m/c do this to hormones?

This happened to me. It took two years and yet I'd never had trouble before. Dd is ten now and I've had another since her so good luck.

Hi...I can't offer a happy story (yet) but wanted to comment as I feel in a very similar situation and know how hard it feels

I had a MC in July/August...and have been trying for 5 cycles since with no luck. I know this is nothing to some people, but like you I got pregnant first and only time with DD, and then the same again when I had MC. So I feel like something has changed since the MC, and I'm starting to feel paranoid that something is wrong/something has been damaged. I feel like we can't physically try any harder! Yet before it just happened so easily. My DH keeps saying it will happen when it's meant to, it takes lots of people ages etc but I'm not feeling any better about it, and every month that goes by just makes me more stressed.

So you are not alone. Hopefully some people will come along with more positive stories.

overanxious yes thats exactly how I feel, and my DH says the same, but its not the same hormonal rollercoaster for them each month is it?! I have actually had acupuncture and am going to go back again as I've heard that this can even out hormones (and reduce stress?), but we'll see...just feel like I want to DO something about it.

Hi ladies, I?m on the same boat, have been TTC for #2 for 3 cycles now after MMC and ERPC in September. That was my 3rd pregnancy (1 child though - MMC, DD and MMC again) and all 3 times I conceived straight away. I am naturally a worrier and quite paranoid so I can?t help thinking that something has gone wrong after my MMC & ERPC! My periods are pretty much the same so I assume (and hope) it?s not Ashermans. I had some weird discharge (clear and tinged with blood ?sorry TMI ) right after my ERPC in September which continued sporadically in October and November so I thought it may be that my hormones have not gone back to normal. But this has stopped now and had high hopes in both December and January which have been crushed unfortunately. Don?t know what to do, don?t want to see my GP before it?s been 6 months, I don?t think they will do anything about it before then (I?ve just turned 35 and I think up to 35yrs it?s TTC for 1 year before they do sth, while 35 and over it?s 6 months), I?ll just have to resort to supplements and keep hoping! overanxious my husband has the same reaction as yours but I can tell he?s getting more and more disappointed as each month goes by. apperleydapperley has acupuncture helped at all?
Any positive stories out there?

First time I got preg, it was on the second cycle without even really trying. Unfortunately, it ended in mmc at 12 weeks.

Since then, it's been a nightmare. It took 10 months to get preg again & then mc again at 6 weeks.

Everyone in my family gets preg pretty much just by being stared at so I feel a bit of a freak...

I've been to the gyno, had ultrasound etc and it seems that it's all fine in the conceiving side. Got given progesterone to try and avoid another mc and we'll get there when we get there but still...

Sorry to hear about the 2 MCs Erica...:-( It's so disheartening, isn't it? Good news about your ultrasound (I think I will need to do that too if I don't conceive again in the next couple of months). Fingers crossed you get pregnant again soon and the progesterone helps!

It was pretty heartbreaking but my gyno is a sunshine and kept reassuring me that by being able to conceive at all I'm half way there ...

I would recommend that you get the ultrasound done, it really put (part of) my mind at rest!

hi, sorry to hear about your mcs ladies. pentagon i haven't been back for acupuncture yet, I decided to go to the GP instead - thinking I would be told to stop wasting their time and keep trying, but the doc I saw was great - she agreed that it did sound as if i was normally very fertile and that it was a bit odd that I hadn't conceived in 6 months, so she suggested I had a day21 blood test to check for ovulation and also other hormones and thyroid function, to see whether all is normal or not. So I had that today and feel positive that even if I get another BFN this month at least I will know whether there is something wrong or whether it is just a matter of time. Am interested in the ultrasound too though if i don't get answers from the blood test.

apperly I had exactly the same! Mmc in march last year and spotting before af since - convinced was never going to happen and got a bfp this month, so don't lose hope! Think it was mostly hormonal and nothing you can do but hang in there til your body's ready. Good luck x

apperley, I think seeing your GP is the right move (I'll do the same soon unless my luck changes) - glad she was understanding and supportive (having a nice GP makes such a difference, doesn't it?) Mmmhh... I also started spotting before AF after the first mc, which never happened before. Anyone knows why this could be? Hormonal maybe?

My gyno is lovely!!! So positive & encouraging, I always feel a million times better after seeing her.

We have been trying for 2 years. Started in jan 2012, finally got pg in June 2012 mmc in August. Nothing has happened since.

Strangely for me I used to spot the day before AF before my mc but now it just comes in full force.

Going back to the docs on Monday to see what next steps are. We'd already had initial tests done before I got pg so time for the next round (I.e. the scarier ones :-(

sorry to hear about your mmc Sonics :-( good luck on Monday, do let us know what the doctor advises. I know all this testing is daunting but at least you're doing sth and hopefully you'll get some answers - and/or some peace of mind!

Sorry for all your losses. I had a mc in Sept and am feeling v disheartened by ttc now. I got pg on my first cycle after coming off the pill with minimal effort but we've not had any success since then. AF is completely different after my mc as well. Light spotting for a few days followed by one heavy day and then light spotting again for 2-3 days. I had 2 x 28 day cycles and then this month it was 35 days. I'd honestly convinced myself that I was pg and was gutted when AF arrived yesterday. Last month we dtd when we needed to (I'm tracking my cm) so we couldn't have done anymore. This is so frustrating but I'm convinced things have changed since my mc. My cycle and AF just feel very very different. Keeping my FX for us all xxx

September was also my month of doom, my AF has changed (as a few people have mentioned it's probably hormonal and we have to be patient and wait for everything to get back to normal but it's so bloody hard, isn't it?) and I was pretty sure I was pregnant this month until AF got me on Wednesday night to my shock and horror :-( indeed, fingers crossed for us all, let's hope our luck changes soon.x

So after last month I decided to do everything I could think of to improve my chances...I started taking Evening Primrose Oil, Vitamin B6 and most importantly I switched to ProCreation tablets (I read some great reviews - they contain vitex, maca and some Chinese herbs - among other things - so I decided to go for them). I also did some fertility yoga following youtube videos. In the meantime I decided to see my GP to get checked out but couldn't get an appointment till March (which I booked) - and having done all this I calmed down a bit. To my surprise, I am pregnant! I got my BFP yesterday and I'm very grateful and relieved :-) Wishing you all good luck! x

I had a mmc last March at 11 weeks and had an ERPC. I haven't had a BFP since. Last week I had a lap & dye where they found a blocked tube and some endo on my right ovary. I am convinced these issues are a direct result of the ERPC (how else does endometrial tissue get behind an ovary?) Before the miscarriage it had taken us only two months to get pregnant. I definitely blame the miscarriage/ERPC. We're now awaiting IVF

I just wanted to say that I had a mc last September. I conceived with my son first time and again last year conceived straight away, before miscarrying. I just felt all wrong for about 4 months after and was convinced that the mc had screwed up my insides. My periods were all over the place and ovulation pain was excrutiating. Anyway, two months ago
I felt slightly more 'normal' and I decided that i had to take a new direction. I cut out most caffeine, drastically reduced booze and started taking conception vits. I have tried my best to reduce stress levels. I got a positive result last week! Its was a weak result and I am nervous. Having now had a mc its really hard not to think it will happen again. Obviously the body can heal quicker than the mind!! When you conceive twice first time, its hard to understand why you then get months of neg results. But there is hope.....I just wanted to share my little chink of it!

Our stories our quite similar, I also got my BFP recently after mmc in September; and just like you, I am very nervous despite having had a scan last week at 6 weeks when we saw the heartbeat and everything looked fine. It's difficult to be calm and optimistic after experiencing miscarriage. Good luck, fingers crossed everything goes well for both of us and everyone trying to conceive or having conceived after miscarriage.x
