Apologies - posting in conception and infertility as just want to hear others stories.

We were lucky enough to have DS in August 2011 as the result of our first IVF cycle. He was a day 4 transfer and one of 2 embryos put back. We had two embryos good enough to freeze.

We are now going back for FET. Just done a cycle on the pill (PCOS, no periods/ovulation) and when my period arrives I will be scanned and start progynova.

Just having wobbly moments really :( The stats for my age (31) for a live birth after FET at our clinic are 17% (which is actually above national average!) It just seems so low :( Fresh IVF is 42.5%.

I think i just want to hear the experiences of other who were successful (or not really) with a similar background.

Hi Vallinnapod
I actually clicked on your post by accident but then realised that even tho no personal experience (yet), I could maybe offer some comfort. I think chances are actually pretty good.
Stats are misleading unless you are careful. Remember you are young and you got pregnant first go, so you have a good fertility treatment record. It's 17% but it doesn't mean that FET is much less successful procedure- it's that lots of FETs are done for people who sadly weren't successful from the fresh cycle. As they've already been unsuccessful once with their best embryos their chance for the FET is lower after failing fresh cycles. There's no point comparing yourself with people who failed the fresh ivf cycles- their fertility is different to yours.
I read some research suggesting that if you compare FET with fresh cycles, frozen ones are actually possibly more successful as you haven't just had all the medicines to interfere with the womb lining. Read this:
www.fertilityauthority.com/articles/embryos-ice-may-provide-more-successful-ivf
So don't wobble! (tho I'm such a hippocrite - ivf is wobbly business!) You've got a really good track record so your chances are good again. Quite possibly better than the 42% as you got pg first go last time.
Good luck!

Thanks, that is a great message. It's hard as if I were to be rational of course it all makes perfect, positive sense. The artificial hormones as well as any latent natural ones just send your head in to a spin.
