Irregular cycles are making this whole thing impossible.
I've failed to identify ov with temp tracking. I fell preg last summer but mc'd, so I know it is possible but have between a 5wk and 10wk cycle so dtd on the right day is very much a needle in a haystack situation.

How have others found the use of opk's? I'll need up to two months worth of sticks for each cycle to spot ov and before I blow my money I'd like to here how it went for others, especially anyone who's been ttc for a long time or has long/irregular cycles.

Are they worth the money? Is it as simple as dtd when the smiley face appears?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Carrot try the OPKs from amazon you can get a stack of them pretty cheap. I've been TTC 27 months just don't seem to be having any luck but the OPKs do work. You could always try these type first before you go blowing money on the smiley face ones which can be quite expensive.

Good luck I hope you get a BFP very soon Smile

Well...my personal experience of OPKs was I had no joy with the cheap ones! I found them too vague. The :) clear blues were much easier for me to read.

However, if you have been TTC for that long and temping has been unsuccessful, along with your erratic cycles, I'm skeptical as to whether OPKs will give you a clear indication of when you're ovulating! Have you started investigations? Has anyone mentioned about PCOS?

Thank you both for your replies.

I have started investigations but after six weeks of blood tests was simply told I didn't ovulate that cycle. The doctor hasn't raised PCOS but others on here have. The next step is to get a scan of the lining but I'm waiting till after the Christmas break to embark on this bit.

Happy New Year to you all.

I seriously wouldn't spend your money on OPKs until PCOS has been ruled out - you certainly have plenty of symptoms - you can get surges of LH that are picked up OPKs but don't necessarily mean you are indicating when you have PCOS. I hope you get answers and your BFP in 2013.

Thank you for the advice. I'll save my cash until the Dr has been able to give me more answers.

Here's hoping 2013 brings each of us the things we wish for.
