Lap and Dye. Have you had one? What to expect.

So AF has turned up which means I'm off for my lap and dye on the 18th.
Has anyone had one done? What was it like? How soon do you get results? Did it help?

I have not had a lap and dye as such, but I did have a diagnostic lap for endometriosis, because of pain and not for trouble conceiving. They did some treatment at the same time and it took me a good two weeks to recover, in fact I went back to work after 2 weeks and had to go home at lunchtime! But I did get an infection in one of my wounds - be sure to get proper instructions on wound care and look out for signs of infection to get it treated quickly - I left it too long in hindsight.

Ime they downplayed the recovery time! At first I had only booked a couple of days off but no way could I have worked for 2 weeks! It was really sore to drive, so arrange help from others, clean your house before you go in, put some meals in the freezer. You really won't be able to cook/clean. If I did it again I would even ask dp to take a couple of days off. Everyone is different so you might bounce back much quicker, but tbh I am normally one to take to my bed when sick, I prefer to be up and about, but it really knocked me sideways and I found the recovery worse than my section! But again could have been completely different if I didn't have the infection, so I would avoid getting one of those at all costs if you can!

Sorry don't mean to scare you, just trying to emphasise that you should give yourself time to recover and make life easy for yourself! Hope it all goes well.

Oh and make sure you take lots of movicol if you are prescribed opioid painkillers. Constipation after abdo surgery is NOT fun!

I mean I am NOT normally one to take to my bed when sick!!

I had one, diagnostic as I had been ttc for almost a year.

Had it in the afternoon, was home by 5pm and went back to work the following day. Nobody, apart from dh, knew.

I had no ill effects whatsoever.

My gynae told me I had an increased chance of conceiving afterwards and he was right as I got pg in the following month.

Ps, I got the results (all clear) when the consultant came to check on me an hour or 2 after the procedure.

So there you go then! Everyone is different obviously!

I had a lap almost 2 weeks ago to remove an endometrioma cyst on one of my ovaries and to check for any other endometriosis. I was back at work on day 3 after the op but I work from home so it was easier than having to go into work, I was out and about driving and shopping by day 5. I'd say it took me a week to feel myself again without too much discomfort. The consultant told me a couple of hours after the op how things went and I have a follow up next week. Good luck!

Mine is diagnostic with the thought of treatment, following an HSG which showed blocked tubes.
I'm lucky in that I work with my DH so getting to and from work won't be a problem. Also cooking and cleaning can go hang, I have no children so it doesn't matter if we eat junk for a few days.
It's due to happen on a Thursday and I'm hoping to be back at work on the Monday, but there is someone standing by just incase I can't manage it.

I think it must have been the infection that affected me then. Not only was I really sore, but I felt really unwell in myself, but it makes sense that perhaps the infection/antibiotics made me feel rough! So make sure you look after those wounds! It was my belly button one...

My exploratory laparoscopy knocked me sideways for a couple of days. I had the operation (under a general anaesthetic) at about 10am and was discharged from the hospital by 3pm. It was my first GA and I felt pretty woozy for the next day or two and slept a lot. I ended up taking 3 days off after the operation in total.

My consultant came and explained what they had found (nothing!) just before I was discharged.
