I have bought some soy isoflavones to try and get my body to ovulate. Can anyone recommend the best why to take, how much, when, for how long etc. thanks

Most people take them days 3-7 (five days worth) - days 1-5 results in more eggs of lower quality and 5-9 in fewer eggs but of stronger quality so people tend to go for the middle.

I can't remember exactly, but people take anywhere between 80-160mg each dose. Usually start off low and increase in subsequent months (or even that month) as people can get quite horrid side effects from it like bad migraines etc.

Good luck!

Rather than self-medicate, you really ought to talk to a doctor or herbal practitioner. They will be able to advise you if this particular thing will work for you.

Personally, I'd be uneasy about taking something that had not been prescribed to me. I've heard lots of stories about women taking things like Agnus Castus of their own accord and it messing their cycles up even more.

Hi, there is a natural fertility expert that I have read posts on another site and she has specifically mentioned soy isoflavones in posts it may be worth sending her a message, think there is also one about angus castus she seems quite nice and seems to answer most posts, I will put link at the end, hope this helps. Best wishes!! Let us know how you get on xxx forum.prideangel.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=532

I took them day 4 - 8. I cannot remember exactly but I think it was;
Day 4 - 75mg
Day 5 - 100mg
Day 6 - 125mg
Day 7 - 170mg
Day 8 - 200mg
They worked for me. Good luck!

FrankelcenseAndMyhrr thank you for your concern. I don't think that my cycle could be any more messed up!

I will have a look at that wrighty! thanks

I am hoping to take this to conceive. I had my last injection in jan of this year. My doc gave me some tablets to try to 'kick start' my period.
So my 1st period was just after stopping these tablets, I did then have a 'spontaneous' period around 28 days later, but I have not had once since. (about 6weeks, not pregnant)
Now my doc has given me some more of these tablets to try and re-start my periods.
SO do i take 3 days of these tablets to make my body bleed and then go from there and start taking soy isoflavones on day 4.
Or do i just start taking soy isoflavones for 4 days?

You can get them from Tesco really cheaply, or Holland and Barrett too.

Agnus Castus has worked well for me in the past as well, I'm currently trying Maca root as this is supposed to be similar to Agnus Castus.

Word of warning, just in case - Don't use soy with Agnus Castus, but it's okay with Maca (I think, you might want to look into that)

You take the soy based on the day when you start properly bleeding at the start of your cycle.

I haven't yet tried soy but I looked into it. The anecdotal evidence seems good but there's not much in the way of proper research.

Like you I experiment with stuff because without it I would never conceive as my LP is only 8/9 days and I ovulate very late and irregularly. Doctors are never interested before a year is up even though now I am over 35 because I already have children. Which I am sure I only have as a result of Agnus Castus as I seem to miscarry without it.

thank you murder, good luck in your maca root. hopefully we will soon be on here having a good old moan about our puffy ankles!
