Anyone else want to join me in getting ready for ivf in 2013? Good egg buddies wanted!!!

Hello,

Dh and I have been trying for over 2 years and had one failed ivf (Icsi) attempt at the Argc last spring. We are going to go again in the new year.

I wondered if anyone else was planning to do the same? And whether anyone fancied joining me in 'princessing' (stolen from style & beauty :) ) for ivf?

I'm not sure what this means in terms of what I'll do, really hoping for some help in researching how to get the best eggs ever, and perhaps how to improve dh's little swimmers....

Anyone up for being a good egg buddy?

honty I would go in - better to be sent away because you don't need a scan than to be needed and not there. Try and keep you hopes up, the clinic have a lot of experience and will do their best for you.

northey I can't say I noticed a particular smell.. If its unpleasant maybe you need to see someone in case of infection?

caip good luck and hand holding for tomorrow. We all know how stressful this is and we are all keeping our fingers crossed for you.

didals hope your pancakes were good. fairy how are you doing?

isabeller how is the 2ww treating you? Not long until you test now.

at everyone else.

Im not phoning the GP tomorrow afternoon to see if my second beta results are in. I'm going to need DHs support if the numbers havnt gone up the way I hope, and he's at work tomorrow. I have an appointment Thursday am so will get the results then. Tomorrow I'm off to the cinema for a bit of escapism to see Beautiful Creatures in the afternoon with a friend - total teen flick mindlessness, it will be great.

delilahbelle · 12/02/2013 21:16

Forgot to say Euro I hope you get a lovely high beta-HCG tomorrow, let us know your number :)

Northey · 12/02/2013 21:37

honty, I would go in. Partly because I would be obsessing like a loon and wanting as much info as possible. It all adds to the picture.

caip and euro, good luck for tomorrow.

Congrats on the strong-mindedness, delilah.

EuroShagmore · 12/02/2013 21:38

honty I would say the scan is still on too. The nurse was probably just told to call you re that and didn't give your appointment a thought.

Good luck to all the upcoming testers!

Isabeller · 12/02/2013 22:00

Hi caipi and euro, I will be thinking of you tomorrow from the minute I wake up.

I'm ok if a bit tired, delilah, alternating daily between 'it worked'/'it didn't work', no sign of AF, all symptoms real and imaginary can be explained away, abdominal twinges are hardly surprising as I've had several operations.

The tiredness is probably due to ancientness combined with a lack of caffeine and sugar. Harrumph. Thank goodness it's not long 'till Friday and I've got plenty to keep me busy. Perfectly calm, me.Wink

Waves and good wishes to everyone, I hope you are all completely calm and not at all on edge or pulling out your hair Grin

CaipirinhasAllRound · 13/02/2013 07:10

Morning everyone. I'm still none the wiser! I just did the test from the clinic which involved me peeing into a pot and then with a pipette putting a couple of drops on to a small test thing. I looked after the recommended 3 mins and it was negative as I'd started to expect. I had a cry and a cuddle then I went to put in the bin a few minutes later, so maybe 10 mins after I did it, and there was a faint line....
So I've just squeezed out a tiny bit more wee and done a different test and got a faint line with that one. I had to wee in the pot and dip it in as there really wasn't much wee but don't suppose that matters

So now I still don't know! Both lines were really faint and the instructions from the clinic say results are inaccurate if read after the time. I need to call them and see what they say but think I'll be testing again in the morning and won't go out and get passed just yet.....

Northey · 13/02/2013 07:20

Oh God, caip! What a horrid suspenseful situation! Are you ok?

keepitgoing · 13/02/2013 07:38

Oh caip!!! It doesn't sound like a definite no. Can you buy a first response, and just not drink anything, then do it in a couple of hours? Their test might not be as sensitive. Are you going for a blood test too?

CaipirinhasAllRound · 13/02/2013 07:40

Feel ok thanks, and a little but optimistic but also prepared for the worst

CaipirinhasAllRound · 13/02/2013 07:45

Just re-read my message - it was meant to say pissed not passed at the end

Already had a drink keep and don't get a blood test

Good luck with you blood test Euro

Karbea · 13/02/2013 07:49

cap won't your clinic send you for a blod test?

OP posts:
HontyTont · 13/02/2013 08:00

Thanks everyone about to leave an go in for the scan just in case!

caip what pants....chin up its not a definite no yet!

Hope everyone else has a good day xx

Isabeller · 13/02/2013 08:06

Oh no, how unsettling caip. I'd better get myself a backup test for Friday. I do hope you get a clearer answer soon xx Is

delilahbelle · 13/02/2013 08:08

caip a line is a line - try and remain hopeful. Get yourself a first response test to take tomorrow morning, I've always found them the best.
Good luck.

euro let us know how you get on with your blood test.

I think I have a bit of a cold, sore throat, headache, sniffles. Normally if just take some lemsip but I guess I better avoid that. Anyone got any remedies?

keepitgoing · 13/02/2013 08:21

caip just wait four hours then...

Dildals · 13/02/2013 09:47

A line is a line! My line was faint too. Twice. Just get one of those early response ones, if you are happy to wee in the work loos that is (rather than at home with emotional support).

Anyone any tips on how to stay relaxed and calm? I am ready to bite someone's head off. DH is really sweet, keeps fussing over me, but he drives me mental with his fussing. Work of course isn't helping, just when you need it to be quiet it's gone berserk, and not in a good 'keeping your mind off things' way. Yoga, massage, scented candles, podcasts, medicinal doses of Fruit and Nut? I have been eating quite well, but I am losing weight because of the nerves, that's how bad it's become! DH says I look gaunt, not a good look, especially combined with a belly that still sticks out! ;-)

EuroShagmore · 13/02/2013 11:07

delilah paracetemol should help (that's in Lemsip anyway) and I understand that is fine.

caip a faint line you say....?

didals When I tried conventional IVF last summer and stopped half way through, I put on over half a stone while I was on the drugs and in the next few weeks while my body readjusted. I had my thyroid tested as I was putting on 2lbs a week whilst eating normally! (It was just within normal levels, so i reckon it had been affected by the downreg drugs and was in the process of restabilising when I was tested.) Anyway, this cycle I had all of the IVF stress without most of the drugs, and I have lost 3lbs over the past month. I've been eating like a horse too. I'm not sure how it is happening!

To distract myself I've tried to keep busy - going for drinks with friends, getting in some good DVDs, going to the gym (even a light session tends to knock me out if I go in the evening, so I sleep better afterwards).

As for me, blood has been taken. I now have the wait for the results. I did wee on another stick this morning and it was a shade darker than the last two. But I am still having some unsettling cramps and don't feel any different!

keepitgoing · 13/02/2013 11:30

euro of course it'll be positive if your pee stick is! :) let us know anyway, though...

EuroShagmore · 13/02/2013 12:25

Well I wasn't prepared to believe it until a medical professional told me. The clinic just called. It's positive. I can't quite believe it.

fairypangolin · 13/02/2013 13:32

euro yay! Wonderful!

CaipirinhasAllRound · 13/02/2013 13:41

Woohoo euro! Excellent news!

My clinic just called and as the line came up after just a few more minutes they're putting me down as positive but have asked me to test and call them again on Friday.

Just maybe..... [Smile]

Isabeller · 13/02/2013 14:32

Fantastic Euro and fingers crossed for you Caipi

I am trying hard not to go mad...Smile

delilahbelle · 13/02/2013 14:58

Congratulations again Euro did they tell you what the number was? And are you having a second test?

caip Good luck for Friday, I have a good feeling and really hope you will get a nice strong line.

isabeller only 2 more days, you can do it.

Loads of snow here now, brr.

EuroShagmore · 13/02/2013 15:06

delilah it was 48.4, so on the low side for 4 weeks, but I am not letting myself worry about that too much. I googled HCG levels last night and from what I read it seems like the actual number doesn't matter too much as long as it keeps doubling. There is no second blood test, but I expect I will keep weeing on sticks for a while yet, hoping the line gets darker!

isabeller didn't you have EC on the same day as me? I don't know how you are managing to wait two days longer! Gah.

caip I'll have everything crossed for you.

keepitgoing · 13/02/2013 15:39
