weetinselchops · 10/12/2012 20:44

I guess it's time to start a January bus for all of us who had to get off the December, November (Oct, Sep, Aug) bus.

New Year, new beginning and hopefully start 2013 off with a bang, and a load of new bfp's!

weechops cycle 7 BFp due Jan 8

Who's with me?

Oh wise ladies of mumsnet i am an OPK virgin and thinking of losing my pureness this month. So in the name of baby making and money saving can anybody recommend a good IC brand?

Bajas · 26/12/2012 21:58

What is opk? I have been very unscientifically dtd frequently and nothing else apart from downloading an ovulation tracking app. What else should I be doing?

JellyCurls · 26/12/2012 22:07

bajas it stands for ovulation predictor kits basically a stick you pee on that predicts ovulation

Bajas · 26/12/2012 22:11

Ah thanks JellyCurls. I prob need to get a bit more proactive about this in the new year! The problem is how to do it without affecting our sex life iykwim- I am a bit afraid of making dh think I'm only after him for his sperm!

JellyCurls · 26/12/2012 22:14

It does become obsessive no matter how hard you try for it not to be. For me its dh who is obsessed

Bajas · 26/12/2012 22:19

In that case I'll definitely have to get more proactive as time is not on my side! Thanks JellyCurl.

JellyCurls · 26/12/2012 22:24

Thats how i feel to, good luck am off to search amazon now

chocoloulou33 · 26/12/2012 23:31

omama · 26/12/2012 23:48

taking !!! how are you my lovely?

Hope you all had a good Christmas. We had a fab time. Just me, dh and the 2 monsters for dinner, then we visitied some family then home to put monsters to bed and dh and I snuggled up, him with Guinness and me with huuuuge Baileys Xmas Smile

I'm about 6dpo just now and feeling relaxed about it, I think. Still dtd with dh but more for fun the past few times which has been lovely. Here's hoping!

OP posts:
TakingTheStairs · 27/12/2012 10:54

That sounds like a lovely Christmas weetinselchops. I do love a glass (or two) of Baileys.
I'm doing okay. Am booked in for a caudal epidural for my back next week, but it's improving at such a good rate I think I'll be able to cancel, and the way things are going, I should be off all my tablets by the end of next week, which means it is safe to ttc again. Just have to get my back strong enough to be able to support me through (fingers crossed) pregnancy.
6 dpo!!! I'm excited for you and have fingers and toes crossed xxx

padster75 · 27/12/2012 11:00

taking great to see you hun. Hope you are managing your back & it isn't hindering you.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas with plenty of shagging presents and goodies. Have drunk so much red wine, eaten so much pate that if I do get pg this month it will a) be a sodding miracle and b) have to be called Merlot Ardennes

TakingTheStairs · 27/12/2012 11:15

hi padster.. loving your baby's future name Grin Hope you're very well?
If DH and I conceive this month, we'll have to call our baby Codiene Moet Turkey.
I'm getting there with my back, slowly but surely. I can now almost walk like a normal person. woo hoo Wink

I like this naming malarky :)
What would everyone else call their baby based on their consumption over the past month?

weetinselchops · 27/12/2012 11:31

Oh my poor future twins would be Bailey Wellington and Cadbury Cava!

OP posts:
navis176 · 27/12/2012 11:40

jelly - I just bought the cheapest mid-stream opks on ebay - can't remember the brand and got mid-stream so I didn't have to faff around peeing into pots (I've only used them once - worked in that they predicted LH surge - didn't help getting pg tho! Might try them again this month...)

oh dear - Chocolate Pinot Grigio Xmas Smile

bugoven · 27/12/2012 13:08

Loving the baby names!

Found the gigantic turkey wishbone this morning and waiting for DH to come home from work so we can wish for little Lambrini Salmon Sprout to join our family next Christmas Xmas Smile

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 27/12/2012 13:11

Oh dear, it'd have to be called Chardonnay Dumpling. Not a name I'd give a daugher Shock.

HayleBoppingAroundTheXmasTree · 27/12/2012 13:21

Welcome back taking glad to see you back here and your back continues to improve.

DH and I started Dtd last night, hope its not too late! Going to do an opk this afternoon to see if I can see what's happening.

Hmmm baby name....blossom buffet chocolate log I think Wink

TakingTheStairs · 27/12/2012 13:25

Thanks Hayle, looking forward to meeting Blossom Buffet Chocolate Log one day Wink

TakingTheStairs · 27/12/2012 14:17

PANTS.

dh is away for work for the whole crucial week for us.
Jan is not going to happen for us. Sad

I know I should be grateful that he has a good job, but ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr Angry

pinkbuttons · 27/12/2012 19:56

Glad everyone seems to have had a lovely christmas. loving he festive babynames.

taking so glad to hear your back is better although rubbish about DH beong away. fingers crossed can sneak in dtd just before he leaves and as soon as he walks in the door... worth a try Wink
AF arrived yesterday here so officially on a new cycle and feeling dangerously hopeful so may need to calm myself down as the month goes on.

greenlizard · 27/12/2012 20:28

Oooh I think the name Shiraz Stilton has a really classy ring about it?!

I am on CD10 and have been having a silly amount of sex over Christmas - which clearly was not going to contribute to a BFP but was fun anyway! I am using my OPK's and so far not a smiley face to be seen but am usually ovulating around CD so we are still going - I think I might be wearing it out Xmas Blush!

Good luck to those who are on the 2WW - I will be joining you very soon for an obsessive range of symptom spotting

Sending a special wave to the ladies due their bfp around the same time as me - let me know how you are getting on - will keep my eyes peeled for you:

Pixie cycle 4 bfp due jan 13th
Raspberry cycle 8 bfp due jan 14th
Ganetgob cycle 1 bfp due jan 14th
Greenlizard cycle 5 bfp due Jan 14th
Bugoven cycle 13 bfp due jan 15th
Frogchops cycle 3 bfp due jan 15th
Readytosettle cycle 3 bfp due jan 15th
pinkmoonlight cycle 2 bfp due jan 15th

I am planning on going on the wagon from Jan 1st so won't have to worry about whether a drink or two will be an issue.
xx

JellyCurls · 27/12/2012 21:19

Hey taking welcome on board but pants dh is away at the crucial time. Wonder if you can home freeze little swimmers for when required?

Decided against opks again as heard mixed reports about whether they work with pcos. Had really short, 8 day, luteal phase last month so going to just dtd lots and concentrate on lengthening it this month (not sure how will manage but going to try)

My January conceived bump will be called "Tattie San Miguel" -overdid it with the roast tatties on xmas day
