How many days before ov can you DTD?

Hi there,
Grateful for any help in working this out - my app says its technically during my 'fertile period' 5 days before actual ovulation day, but that seems quite a long time to me...
I had strong pains on the Friday so I'm sure that was the right ov day, but we only DTD on the Sunday before.

I'm guessing it's very unlikely, but technically possible I might have conceived. Does anyone have any experience of it 'working' that early?

I was under the impression that your fertile period is 5 days before ovulation and 5 days after. That way it gives you maximum chance to conceive. Fertility experts say to have sex every 2-3 days throughout the month then maybe more so during your fertile period. I think the day you ovulate differs each month also. I think just lots of rumpy pumpy is the way forward!

Thanks for reading. Yes, we clearly need to get a bit more on with it next month to increase our chances, but it'd just be so exciting if we beat the odds and managed it without making a major effort...

But as you say, it's usually good to have a perfect excuse to have LOTS of fun together anyway :-)

Just breastfeeding my 8 month old DS who was conceived on day 6 of my cycle which was usually 32 days long. No idea when I ovulated that month as my husband was working away for the rest of the month after day 6 so I never bothered checking. On previous months I'd ovulated around day 18-20. We'd planned to start trying for a baby the following month but my period never came.

We did 'just shagging' one month = bfn
Next month, sex every other day for the.month = bfp.

Not saying its a certainty, but for want of a better phrase youve got to be in it to win it.

Haha I'll remember that next time! And keep my fingers crossed for the next 10 days...
