Who here has fallen pregnant despite breastfeeding through the night?

Will also post this in bf/ff section I think.

DD is 10 months and I've just got my periods back, well 1 period so far. Cramping and cm suggest I might be ovulating, am not sure though.

I still feed DD about 6 times in 24 hours, 3 feeds of which are at night so I don't get this 6-hour bfeeding free window that seems to be so important to fall pregnant.

So the big question is, how many people on here have managed it despite quite a few night feeds?

if you have periods you can get pregnant, bf or not

most precisely if you are ovulating you can get pregnant - I actually never had a period between DS2 and DS3, I had no idea I was ov while reducing bf, but 1 ov was all it took and bamm!
I had to have a dating scan, coz when gp asked when I'd had my last period I said 17 months previously!!!!Grin

me! I night weaned my older child(ren) to conceive dc2 & dc3 but conceived dc4 before I night weaned, I was still feeding at least twice a night. Oh & my periods hadn't returned & it was the first time we'd had sex for 6 months. It is possible!

I'm trying right now (well, not as I type - that would probably put poor DH off his stride). DS is 18mo and still feeds 2/3/4 times a night.

I got my periods back when he was 11mo but never really paid attention to ovulation signs as we weren't ttc.

Last month we started trying and I think I ovulated pretty late in the month. Apparently, the prolactin produced while bfing can alter the luteal phase (time between ovulation and AF) and effect fertility. I'm wondering if this is happening to me as DS is a total boob obsessive. I hope that as he gets older and feeds less, that will sort out my luteal phase.

It's a bummer, but I wonder if it is nature's way of only letting you get pg when you can cope. The sensible, rational part of my brain queries how I would cope being pg and waking up several times a night to nurse DS.

[crosses fingers that DS will ever sleep better and feed less]
