acupuncture for PCOS

I have PCOS and basically don't have periods at all. I was put on metformin by a consultant and amazingly conceived and now have a lovely little boy. It was pretty horrendous though as I felt very nauseous constantly when on metformin, lost a huge amount of weight as I couldn't face food and was constantly tired. Not sure how easy that would be with a nearly-toddler. Has anyone had any luck getting ovulation going with acupuncture? Or should I stick to hardcore drugs?!

It really helped me within 2 cycles so I would recommend it.

Blood tests at the GP showed I wasn't ovulating. I started acupuncture, and when I was tested 3 months later, I was ovulating normally. I continued to have acupuncture for another year (and so did my dp). We were told we would have to have IVF due to problems with DP sperm, but we conceived naturally, a month before we were due to start IVF. We now have a gorgeous 16 month old dd. Grin

There is quite a lot of stuff on the net about the positive effects of acupuncture on hormonal imbalances.

There is no reason why you shouldn't use both the drugs (as long as they don't make you feel too ill again) and acupuncture at the same time. My acupuncturist had a long chat with me on the phone before I made the first appointment. Perhaps you could try and talk it through with an acupuncturist first.
