Ectopic Pregnancy

Ive just been to see my gp as i have a dull aching pain in my right pelvic area, my gp said that it could be an ectopic pregnancy and took a urine sample which came back negative. He wants me to go back for a blood test on thursday to do a blood pregnancy test and has booked me in for an ultrasound to check whats going on. He said all the symptoms lead to an ectopic pregnancy but then it could just be a muscle strain causing the pain. Feel scared

Have you had a positive pregnancy test at home?

If you have a possible ectopic, and you get sharp shoulder pains, or feel really bad (I was incoherent to anyone other than my husband), please got to A&E and tell them your Dr's possible diagnosis.

No not done a home pregnancy test but had a urine sample at doctors which was negative.

So what leads him to suspect a pregnancy?
Ectopics don't usually become apparent til 5/6 weeks. Is it likely your pregnant?

Im not sure why he thinks its ectopic i think just because of where the pain is, whats the procedure if i am having an ectopic pregnancy is it normal to just be sent home to carry on as normal and go back in 2 days for bloods?
I dont think im pregnant i had my period last week which was a quite heavy and painful.

Right, if you had a period last week, and you weren't trying for a baby, I strongly doubt you've got an ectopic pregnancy.
If the pain gets really bad, go to A&E and tell them, but I very much doubt your pregnant, let alone having an ectopic pregnancy.

However, they can be life threatening so please treat it seriously.
I had an suspected ectopic, as I was bleeding at 5 weeks. Sent for a scan at 6 weeks (very little point having a scan before then), and they couldn't see anything, so had bloods taken.
Bloods repeated 48 hrs later, the increase in pregnancy HCG levels identified an ectopic. I was in theatre 5 hrs after the second set of bloods came back.

No idea, but if its bad enough to go see the GP, I'd suggest a different one!

Your doctor is an idiot. I'm sorry you're in pain but it's not an ectopic pg. They don't show signs till 5/6 weeks, the time when the embryo grows too large for the Fallopian tube to contain it any longer.

I hope you get sorted but, seriously, your doctor should go back to med school for telling you that.

I had pain like this - initially did check if it was an ectopic pregnancy or appendicitis. Multiple tests and scans along with specialist appointment diagnosed a blockage in my urinary tract, possibly by a kidney stone that passed but got stuck.
