A wordy fred title I know, but it's too early to think of something snappier!

Get ready for the end of the world: grab your OFRS, your emergency gin supply and join us shrivelled harridans in the BESH Bunker.

Admittance is only permitted on production of a successfully completed BESHtionnaire (hint, check out previous BESH threads)

Dor I would have to say that 8 days is not a long time to spend with your child who lives such a long way away, and it's very shitty to dick about with dates when things are already booked, so I would be pissed off, but save the real fury in case you do find out the change of heart is football related.

FriendofDorothy · 12/12/2012 21:36

Heheh yeah. I just feel that if I can put up with them for that long, having just had the baby and all that, then they should make the effort too.

OComeAllYeFaithBaby · 12/12/2012 21:42

dor he is clearly taking the piss! Getting you to book the flights and then rearrange them?! What I would say is 8 days is probably enough to have your fill of him and you may well be happy to stick him on a plane at the end of it! :) where will they be staying?

Re '21' day blood tests, my first one was 15. It was very difficult to get it right because my cycles were so irregular. In the end I got several blood test forms and had them 7 days before my shortest and longest cycle and finally got a high of 28 which my consultant was happy enough with. Tricky though.

I am only a teeny bit Xmas Envy of you rie. Just a teeny bit!

Frankelstein · 12/12/2012 21:45

As my wise colleague is want to say - milk and relatives go off after 4 days Grin

ArielTheBahHumbugMermaid · 12/12/2012 21:47

Dor, think of the bigger picture. Think beyond the flights, the football etc and think of the reality of having them here for 8 days when you have a newborn.

You will be cheering when they leave, I can guarantee it!

FriendofDorothy · 12/12/2012 21:48

Oh, I know I will be pleased to get rid of them, but it just annoys me that he has behaved like this.

WinklyVersusTheZombies · 12/12/2012 22:05

I would be annoyed too

JethroTull · 12/12/2012 22:45

Fanks for all the kind BESH words hags. Tis nice to know that other people understand sometimes init?

Dor YANBU but on the bright side less days to cope with IL's?

Boooooooooo broody you say??

Northey · 13/12/2012 03:35

dor, that's so irritating and faffy of them! Grrr.

Ivf appointment was ok. It turned out not to be the consent consultation, but a kind of crappy pre-consultation, to review our history and explain that we'd be doing short protocol rather than long protocol because of my polycystic ovaries. Oh, and to tell me that despite all the pre-meeting to-ing and fro-ing about blood results, there were still some missing. And AMNH needs another spoff test. And I need to phone today to book the consent consultation. Ho hum.

And then we went to a very nice cocktail bar and spent a great deal of money getting rather drunk. Hence my headachey wakefulness now.

Frankelstein · 13/12/2012 06:26

Sorry the appointment was an anti-climax. Have they given you an idea how long it will take for your next appointment, or is it just phone up and see?

I'm lying in bed trying to motivate myself to get up and do the Shred. It's warm and cosy in here!

EuroShagmore · 13/12/2012 06:47

The jet lag got me again. Annoyingly, as I have the Create appointment this morning, I can't even make good use of it by going into work or hitting the gym or something.

norfy sorry to hear the appointment was an anti-climax, but at least things are moving forwards. Cocktails sound ace.

I suspect Create will want some up to date tests. My blood tests were done 18 months ago and not repeated. KFZK's last spaff test was about a year ago. I really can't be arsed with all that.

Dor I'm with rie. Be grateful for the shorter visit. My MIL was here for a week last Xmas (as those of you around then may remember because I didn't shut up about it). It was far too long to be stuck under one roof. I can see how it is a bit shit that it looks like he is favouring football over his son and grandchild though. It sends the wrong message, even if in practical terms it is probably a good thing!

Frank I have the shred. It is in the DVD drawer. I thought that was enough. Now you seem to be saying I have to actually do it???

SinkyMalinks · 13/12/2012 06:52

Howdy.

Why do ivf clinics feel the need to have so many random appointments? It just seems so disorganised to get a few bloods here, a jizz test there, an appointment with a nurse to tell you to get a few more bloods and another fanjo cam.

Why can there not be a sheet of "you need these tests", and let us sort it out? Then we go to a single clinic and not be faffed around.

Bah humbug.

Currently working consecutive 13 hr long days. I'm knackered, the house is a tip and I have no food in. Am going back under my rock now.

Off at the weekend and will catch up on the chatter. Hope all are ok.

Northey · 13/12/2012 07:32

Bloody hell sinky. Remind me what you do (unless you'd rather not say)? I was working 8am - 7pm last week and that was enough to send everything domestic into chaos. 13 hour days sound impossible!

I didn't realise your Create appointment was this week, shags! Good luck with it. Is it the same sort of appointment as I've just had, or is it going to be a more productive one?

Fanks for drucks, frank. I offer you in return the Grope of Gratitude.

maamalady · 13/12/2012 07:56

It is baffling, why on earth don't they have a list of tests to work from? Glad the cocktails were good, anyway, norf :)

HOTB woke me up in the middle of the night by walking into our bedroom door. Normally we keep it open, but as gingercat has not been well we've banished her so as so minimise accidental pee locations. I wish I'd seen HOTB do it, it was a hell of a noise Grin

Also, it's CD31 (UCL is 29-30 so barely late) and my temp is still high (highest so far this cycle). I am trying desperately not to get my hopes up.

Oh, and as cat needs looking after and giving drugs, I'm going to miss the fun weekend away for a friend's birthday. HOTB will go, but I'm really sad to miss it :(

Frankelstein · 13/12/2012 08:16

Good luck today Euro, how is the temperature anyway? Hmm? Hmm?

I think, maybe, just possibly, that I might be getting ready to ov. Last night I went to the loo and (sorry but TMI) I had a string of CM that stretched from my foof to my knees when I stood up Shock and Hmm. I just need to hang on till tomorrow evening when HWHNN gets back

Frankelstein · 13/12/2012 08:17

Oops, I meant evils temp, not Euros

I didn't Shred in the end Blush

WinklyVersusTheZombies · 13/12/2012 09:47

Xmas Shock at frank's impressive cm! You could make a new generation of Stretch Armstrongs with that.

OComeAllYeFaithBaby · 13/12/2012 10:18

Morning all!

You lot were very chatty while I was spark out!
norf what a nightmare :( I hope they sort you a proper appointment soon.

euro sorry you're still feeling jet laggy. I hope the appointment goes well.

it is time good woman! Do you chart using futility fiend?

I'm off to my second needles appointment today, I was skeptical but I have been able to cut my painkillers down so I'm going for it - £50 for 5 sessions is a total bargain right?!

maamalady · 13/12/2012 10:38

Yes, faith, futility fiend indeed! The last time droid was late it turned up after six days MIA so I shall not be POASing until next week. In any case HOTB is going to be away at the fun weekend from tomorrow night so that will make it easier to avoid the temptation until he's back.

Incidentally, HOTB's reaction to continuing high temps is the standard refrain of the barren when faced with potential diffedness signs: "it's probably just a false alarm" Grin

Although, we did carpet bomb around ovulation for once

WinklyVersusTheZombies · 13/12/2012 10:42
MadameBoolala · 13/12/2012 12:19

SPAFF! What a great word (I'm still here).

Think I'd best explain to newESH that I am an ESH of old who tried for over 2 years for number 2 and gave up in a whirl of mid-life crisis mental just before I turned 40 earlier in the year just before they were going to put me on clomid. (I have annovulatory cycles).

Anyway, this corner of MN is still a place I like to drop in on as it was my sanctuary for so long. So there you are :)

EuroShagmore · 13/12/2012 13:17

Right. I'm back from my Create appointment. That took AAAAAAGES. But it was good not to be rushed, just a bit unexpected.

They did a long, detailed fannycam scan, looking at everything in detail and measuring the blood flow to ovaries and womble, looking at the lining, counting the follies, etc. Apparently bar three small intramural fibroids that should not have any effect on anything, my ladyparts look A-OK. He said it was unusual not to find anything at all on the scan, but mine was clear.

Then we had a long consultation, the outcome of which is that we will try natural IVF the cycle after next (as next ov will probably fall really close to NYE and just be too tricky - frankly I'd prefer it if the embryologist wasn't p1ssed and wearing a comedy hat or something). Natural IVF=just a trigger shot to time egg collection and maybe some nurofen type drug that can help delay ov a bit. I'm fine with that.

The plan is probably 1-2 cycles of natural and then consider mild stimulation to get a few eggs.

EuroShagmore · 13/12/2012 13:20

And now to reply to everyone else.

Boo you are always welcome to hang out here. This place is definitely a sanctuary.

sinky & norf fertility clinic crap admin is a bugbear of mine. Why can't they just make it as easy as possible for people?

draf that sounds hilarous. KFZK gets all offended if I laugh at his comedy injuries (I do usually make sure it isn't fatal first).

Frank even though your question was misdirected, my temp did jump up a chunk this morning. Hmmm.

FriendofDorothy · 13/12/2012 15:00

Boo - it's lovely to see you. I was only thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were.

MadameBoolala · 13/12/2012 15:21

Thanks Dor and Europops. I'm doing ok, I was mental, then after that I was very sad, and now I'd describe myself as mostly wistful. Which is much easier.

It's really bizarre but I feel fertile now, however the reason we aren't ttc is simply because we can't afford another one.
