Day 21 test - or 7 days post ov test... Confused!

After 1.5yrs ttc #2 dh and I have been referred for the basic tests.

I had my day 3 test earlier this month (on day 5 as was told its fine between day 2-6 and day 3 was a sat). I also have to have the day 21 test this month. I've read on here that it shouldn't be a day 21 test, it should be a 7 days post ov test but I don't know exactly when I ov. I have been using cbfm on and off during ttc this time and I think I ov between day 15-17. if I had the day 3 test on day 5 does this mean I should have day 21 on day 23? I've tried gp but he was no use.

Any advice on when to go for the day 21 to try and get the best out of it.

I actually don't think not ovulating is the issue but want to get the tests right to make sure!

Don't worry so much about when you had the day 3 test - that doesn't really figure. But yes, you should try to have your day '21' test 7 days after you think you ovulated. That's when your progesterone peaks. I had 4 low readings before I used charting to date when I had the test done and got a normal result.

So I'm temping and cbfm-ing this month.... It's so long since I temped that I can't remember what I'm looking for to mark ov! I'll have to read up on it!

Are you using fertility friend? You're looking for a rise in temp, probably over a few days and them for it to stay high.

I'm well thanks. Nearly 19 weeks! Looking forward to the next scan in a couple of weeks' time :)

The day 21 test should be ideally done 7 days post ov, but is ok for 6,7,8 or 9 days post ov. Hope it works for you.
