Afternoon ladies hope everyone is well :) I had a day 21 blood test yesterday and just wondered, (I am aware of how thick this sounds!) I can't for the life of me recall my dr or nurse tell me if/when I could get results! Do I get to know or do I wait til sept when I see dr next?! Do I ring or will they contact me! And if I ring then how long do I give them?! I know how this sounds lol! But I hate ringing my hospital I always feel like its a massive chore for them to help!

So this is clomid cycle 2 and considering last month I had every symptom going especially around ov time this month I have had Zilch! Last month had sore boobs, what I though was ov pain which was very much there! but this month nada! boobs fine, no pain down stairs! What's going on?! I had positive opk on day 14 could be wrong suppose as have pcos! But weird! Even before my period I get sore boobs for about 2-3 days so will see! I keep getting mild period cramps but that happened before af last cycle, last cycle was 29 days so still got a week to go but just feel a bit like it maybe hasn't worked ?! I don't know?! Sorry to rant!!

Mazzie happy birthday I'm sure you said it was today :) did you buy a test?! Xxxxx

charlie my hospital told me they wouldn't give any results out over the phone however, the fc said to feel free to call her for results! I'd give it a week and then call. I clomid side-effect spotted like bad the first few cycles but haven't noticed any this cycle

mazzie happy birthday!!!! Xxx

Hi ladies, hope everyone's ok?

I'm on my 2nd cycle of clomid and I'm not being monitored this time, is this normal? I've been prescribed it by my GP and last month had a scan and day 21 bloods. Not sure if I should request bloods again? What do you all think?

Report
charliedrinks26 · 14/05/2013 21:59

Thanks kitty :) think ill ring them in a week see what they say! Surely as the dr has said I can have it for 6 months then will refer for Ivf they'd want to make sure I was on the right dosage for best chance of it working therefore would be beneficial for me to get results so I've not just wasted 6 months if it doesn't even make me ov!! Lol stupid hospital sometimes I wish we could afford to go private!! B( hopefully I won't be on it abd ill get pregnant! Wishful thinking I know!)

Hi merytle :) the only thing my dr is doing is day 21 blood test on cycles 2 and 3 (given a 6 month supply) so I can't really say if its normal not to be monitored reading right back on this thread though I've read a few ladies asking for monitoring coz its stressful enough without not knowing so no harm in asking :) x.

Thanks charlie :) Re the day 21 bloods, my surgery always say it can take up to 5 days to get them back but in practice they have them within 2 days! I'd call them and see what they say. Mine is being sorted through my GP surgery though so may be different? Thanks too for the advice, I'll call and see if I can get a test booked in. I'm charting but would really like to know if it's working!!

myrtle I was monitored on my first round but not my second. I was only offered a progesterone test rather than scans. I'm still taking it but not being monitored at all now since last appt. I basically told fc I didn't think there was a point in taking it so she said I could stop and she'll refer me for iui but I couldn't have both. I chose the latter but still have clomid left so taking it anyway for all the good it's doing

Report
Pipdini · 15/05/2013 17:33

Mazzie... Have you done it yet??

I have only been given day 21 bloods and nothing else... Doesn't hurt to try to ask for scans though??

I'm going for my day 21 bloods tomorrow, and have super sore nipples?? Anyone else had this from clomid?

Kitty - she offered you either a scan now or to go on to iui?? That's outrageous... You should get both!! Xxxx

Report
BlindKitty · 15/05/2013 17:39

Pip afraid the sore nipples can be reasonably common, as can the hot flushes. However, this month haven't had any side effects (touch wood).

My fc said she's ou allowed to suggest one treatment at a time. When I asked if I could still take the clomid I had left whilst I wait for iui (4 month waiting list) she said I could but she didn't want to know about it!!!!

Re scans, my trust's policy is not to scan. Differs from trust to trust

Report
maybemyrtle · 16/05/2013 11:28

Thanks kitty and pip. I might request the day 21 bloods, I don't mind about the scan so much but it'd be good to know if this is still the right dose.

I don't even know what iui is? I don't qualify for ivf (too old) and we've not been referred to the fertility consultant because we've not been trying long enough (trying for 2 years but mc a year ago). I'm very lucky to be getting any help from the NHS so I don't want to be too demanding. I've had hardly any symptoms at all this cycle, which is great but makes me wonder if it's worked!

Hello ladies, just a quick update. I have had 6 rounds of clomid now and as i'm 42 and have had children before i'm not being offered ivf. So from now on I'm going to try naturally. I wish you all the best and hope it works for you! Although I am not pregnant I have been temping and am confident I have ovulated the last 3 months, which I wasn't doing before clomid. So I cant say its a complete failure for me.
Have you tested yet Mazzie?
Big wave to meluv if your lurking !

Report
BlindKitty · 16/05/2013 15:23

myrtle it's basically artificial insemination. It's not got a great success rate but I'm going to give it a go anyway. If you're over 35 you only have to wait 6 months for a fc appt

mumalah sorry to hear that. Could you fund your own ivf?

Report
mazzie40 · 16/05/2013 20:12

Hi ladies. Just a quick update :). I haven't tested. 2 days ago I took my temp when I woke up and it was higher than it's been this cycle, 37.3. And when I took the thermometer out, I temp vaginally, I noticed a tiny bit of brown on it, went to the bathroom and a little spot of brown when I wiped and then nothing all day, then this morning a spot of brown and then another couple of spots during the day, but nothing for the last few hours, got no af pains but quite bad backache, so I reckon af is gonna show, time will tell. I'll keep y'all posted :). Hope your all ok :). X

Hi kitty, thanks for that. Interesting what you said about 6 months, here it's 2 years regardless of age! I'll check it with my GP. So frustrating how variable it is depending where you live and nowhere seems to actually follow the NICE guidelines at all. Ah well.
Best of luck - I hope it works for you :)

Report
BlindKitty · 17/05/2013 15:35

myrtle yes, that's nice guidance. Perhaps you can ask if you can see your trust's policy on it? Might make them see how serious you are about it

Morning ladies :) hope everyone's ok especially mazzie :) have you poas yet?!

So I phoned the hospital today 1 week after I had day 21 bloods who to me they don't give results over the phone and I would have to wait until I have my appointment with the dr to get them I said that's not til September though! She said if there was anything I need to know then the dr will contact me or contact my dr to contact me!!!! What a cop out!!! All I wanna know is if its worked!!!ffs! I hate this!!!!! Why can't they just send the results to go surgery they have no issues with giving out blood test results over the phone!!!( by the receptionists I might add!) as if this journey isn't stressful enough I have to sit and wait for effing nothing ?! Arrrghhh! Also I have just witnessed someone at work Use my milk I front if me without asking me I don't even know her!!!!!!!!!!!!! Confused did nt say anything as I may just flip my lid! Cd 28 and af any day now pmt is at its peak!!!

Sending lots of baby dust/positive thoughts to everyone, anyone got any updates :) xx xxxxx

charlie word of warning, we begged our gp to give dh's sa results as fc appt was months away. Gp didn't really know much but basically read our results out 'low counts of morphologically normal sperm'. We stressed about this for months until fc appt when she said it was nothing to worry about!! I know it's hard but you might be best bring patient x
