ovulation / anovulation

So i have a question about ovulation. Here goes..
I am on day 20. I had a LH surge & a little CM on day 13. We bd on day 12,14 & 16. Well today, i got more CM. What does this mean? I read in "Taking Charge of your Fertility" it is impossible for a woman to ovulate twice, so i am wondering what the chances are I could have hit the jackpot or was i too early with the days bd? And I am too late now? I know we should just do it all the time , but my husband thinks i am just in it to get pregnant, so i have to time our sex life carefully - who knew that would happen!! Has anyone have any knowledge on anovulation? thanks!

klou,

I know that you can get several patches of fertile cm in a cycle, and likewise more than one lh surge when your body might gear itself up to release an egg and then not do so, so then it tries again later. Was the CM fertile egg-white stuff both times?

I think you can get the signs and still have an anovulatory cycle as it is not an exact science unfortunately.

So there is a chance! The CM was the egg white type on both times, but not much of it. Is it possible that the time we had sex on day 16, enough sperm would have survived for the egg white on day 20?

sperm can generally survive for approx 5 days inside a woman, although generally it is recommended that you should have sex regularly in order to give sperm more chance to get to an egg. Also, if you're on day 20, there should be at least 10 days between the time of ovulation and AF in order for an embrio to implant successfully. How long are your cycles normally?

thanks for replying - normally 30 - 34 days long. We should have tried on day 18 to make sure - i think i may have missed it again this month, having thought i had ovulated earlier - therefore trying 12, 14 & 16th, my body now could have ovulated later and perhaps the sperm would not have survived.....

klou, you don't sound like you have missed it if you have got the egg white cm today, in fact today would be a good day to try if you have cycles up to 34 days and I am sure I have read that you won't get the fertile CM after ovulation.
