Trying Again.

Hello,
Just coming on to have a chat and look for some words of wisdom. I have a 9 month old daughter and have been trying for another baby for 4 months. ( I know a lot of you will say not very long) I have had one previous miscarriage (before i had my daughter) and my husband has ME and im worried about getting pregnant. I have started to do ovulation tests. (Boots own) but after a week of test i still havent shown a positive test yet. That in its self is worrying me. I had planned section with my little girl and there were no problems. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. x x x

I didn't want to see your thread go unanswered. I would suggest you post a question with a specific title, such as opk's not working.

Or you can search old threads on mn, there are plenty of threads on opks and how some people find they work great and others don't.

Or join one of the threads that people are chatting on already, you will get great help that way too.

I don't use opk's anymore as they don't really work for me, so someone else might give you better advice as I have never used the boots ones.

What cycle day did you start testing? Cycle day 1 is the first day of your period.

i never get positive opks until day 17, and to be honest I think generally they are unreliable. If you get a short LH surge and test once daily, you could completely miss it.
Get the really cheap sticks on amazon and test twice a day from day 10 onwards.
Better still look out for other signs such as mucus and temperature. It is only by using a combination of all of the above that I have a good idea of when I ovulate.

Hi, trying and not getting anywhere sucks, no matter how long you've been at it or how recently you had a baby so I can empathise. But your body has recently been through a very big thing! It may be that your hormones haven't settled down yet perhaps, especially if you breast fed. And remember that it can take up to a year to conceive and some docs say two years, even if there is nothing really the matter. Opks can be a pain to use and sometimes the surge is very quick. If you are only testing once a day, you could well have missed it. Taking your temp every day might help to pinpoint ovulation.

I know this is easy for me to say (two years on and still trying) but ttc can be harder than we think and can suck you in so easily. If you can, try to go with it a bit longer and enjoy your baby before the worry sets in - I bet you get there far sooner than you think.good luck.
