I've started the new thread - how exciting!!

I hope this thread will bring lots of BFPs, good scan results and healthy new arrivals.

Congrats on the BFP, ladyflump!

dorita, I'm 36, will be 37 by my current due date.

lotsofcheese · 09/01/2013 18:55

Hi Dorita - just to answer your question: yes, most miscarriages are caused by chromosomal abnormalities, which increase with age, especially over 35. Above 40, it's even higher & the miscarriage rate in your 40's is pretty much 50/50.

I'm 40 and have had 2 m/c in the last 18 months- am currently 21.5 weeks pregnant. So it's still possible to have a healthy pregnancy at this age. Once you get past 12 weeks, the risk of chromosomal abnormalities at 40 is about 1% - which I don't think is too bad.

Good luck, hoping your bad luck is all behind you & this is a sticky one! X

Moominsarescary · 09/01/2013 19:20

Congratulations ladyflump talk to your mh team, plenty of people take ad and stronger meds during pg. How much is your dose? If you do decide to come off them it's better to do it slowly with support from your team.

yikes I'm really sorry, I know they usually have threads in antinatal/testing with regards cvs and high indicators for downs x

35 weeks now. Stitch coming out on Friday. I'm now further along than I was when my waters broke with ds2&3 so it seems my cervix was to blame for the prem births

Jollyb · 09/01/2013 19:41

dorita I'm a spring chicken at 35. Sounds a lot older than the 32 I was when I had my daughter.

Phew what a day at work. On train home and just demolished a whopper.

yikes hope you're ok

Thanks everyone, and for the stats cheese I've been excited for the last week and feel like I've had a big jolt of reality (that I was blocking out) even though we don't know anything more than we did before....it's going to be a looooooooong 9 months if this one sticks!

oo00PIXIE00oo · 09/01/2013 20:11

dorita I was 32 when I had my DD 10 years ago, had an MC at 6 weeks and an MMC at 10 weeks last year - EPU told me to give my body a little rest before tryin again but hoped to see me back soon! At 42 next birthday we will try :) x

buzzybeetop · 09/01/2013 21:43

Just wanted to say Yikes I'm so sorry. Hope today's gone ok.

backwardpossom · 09/01/2013 22:14

Thinking of you yikes Thanks

YikesHereWeGo · 09/01/2013 23:24

Funny old day. Didn't have the CVS in the end as 'the Prof' was a bit more positive in his outlook than the previous doc I saw and recommended I wait to get my Harmony result. The wait is on...
Hope everyone else is ok? x

YikesHereWeGo · 09/01/2013 23:25

P.S. I'm 38.

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/01/2013 07:25

Yikes glad he was positive hope the wait isn't too awful. When is it next week?

HJBeans · 10/01/2013 08:35

Hope your wait isn't too long yikes. I imagine it must be difficult to get mixed signals from your doctors, though good that the more senior is more positive. Thinking of you.

HJBeans · 10/01/2013 08:49

Feeling miserable here. Shockingly bad backache the last three days here, combined with low-grade UTI & intestinal symptoms, making my feel really run down during first week of my new job. Also getting sharp pain in some joints, but not sure if it's down to coming off my rheumatoid arthritis medication.

EPU said they don't worry about the pregnancy with backache. GP's put me on anti-biotics for suspected UTI but says he thinks the back is just muscular, which happens in pg but usually not this early. I'm hoping it's a one-off back strain, which I've had from time to time.

Never having gotten this far in a pg before, I keep worrying this is just what pg is like - in the case of my horrid back I really hope that's not the case! Can any more experienced folk comment on when you expect things to start to hurt?

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/01/2013 10:31

hjbeans in my experience everyone is completely different. Some people sail through the whole thing, some have pain and discomfort from the off and others anywhere in between. I think it depends on lots of things, how you body was pre-pregnancy etc...

For me I didn't have any sickness with DD but I was aware I was pregnant all te time and never knew whether any twinges pains were pregnancy related or just there. Sorry that isn't much help!

LCR77 · 10/01/2013 14:12

yikes sorry to hear you're having such a hard time - it must be very stressful. Fingers crossed you hear some good news soon.

dorita I'm 35 and this will be my first (if all goes well...) and almost 36 by time DD arrives. Feeling a bit grotty today in fact last couple of days round about lunchtime - could just be hungry! Also, anyone else suffering from manly burping???!! I am disgusting myself...

LadyFlumpalot · 10/01/2013 15:51

Just gotten home from the doctors. The verdict is that I should come off the Citralopram as I am also seeing the CBT team, BUT, my hubby is to keep an independent eye on my moods and I am to go back if it starts to dip.

The GP wouldn't entertain me having an early scan and just booked me in for the booking in appt on 14th February. I'm just going to take every day as it comes and see how it all goes.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 10/01/2013 17:38

Hi yikes been thinking of you, sounds like more positive news, hope the wait isn't too awful

ladyflump can you not self refer to the Epau for an early scan? I can do that in my area. Though taking each day as it comes sounds very sensible to me.

hj I'd agree with mrsh, every pg is different. For me this pg is very different to my pg with DD, where I had a lot of backache early on then nasty PGP. I would ask to see a women's health physio if you have such a thing at your hospital, they may be able help. I could self refer, which is quicker than waiting for your midwife to do it.

lcr no manly burping here, I am a lady! Wink

tasmaniandevilchaser · 10/01/2013 17:41

Though I did nearly gas myself at yoga with a particularly unpleasant fart Grin

Dorita75 · 10/01/2013 20:34

Not burps LCR but my farts are supercharged!! and more frequent (and a farty girl most of the time to be honest, still a lady too Wink

I'm glad you've had some more positive news Yikes xx

Jollyb · 11/01/2013 08:37

hj sorry you're feeling so crap at the moment. You may well have a bug on top of first trimester awfulness. I'm sure you will start to feel better soon. When pregnant with my DD it happened overnight. I woke up one day and felt normal - I also wanted my morning coffee.

I'm feeling very achy in my pelvis which is panicking me, I have to keep telling myself it's only stretching.

ladyF glad your GP was supportive. Hope the CBT is helpful too.

LCR no burps here but never been much of a burper!

OP posts:
LCR77 · 11/01/2013 15:08

HJbeans hope you're feeling a lot better - really doesn't sound a lot of fun at all. take it easy

Just got back from midwife and I've got my early scan booked for next Friday so just a long agonising week to wait. trying to remain positive and not worry too much as there is really nothing I can do except hope this baby is in the right place this time.

on a lighter note, it seems my gas problem is not only north but now south. Am a burp and fart factory - truly unpleasant! hope it wears off soon. Although would still call myself a lady, just not a very attractive one right now!!

buzzybeetop · 11/01/2013 20:36

HJ hope you're feeling a bit better. Maybe it would be worth seeing your rheumatologist to see what they think.

Yikes hope you're doing ok.

Got my BFP today! Feeling fairly calm at the moment. Just going to take it one day at a time and enjoy being pregnant for now and try not to think ahead too much.

buzzybeetop · 11/01/2013 20:38

35 by the way Dorita

Jollyb · 11/01/2013 20:38

Yippee . Many many congrats Buzzybee
