Trying to conceive a boy

Just musings.

We have two girls, & dp said last night that if we could guarantee a boy he would want to go for number three. Obviously we wouldn't ttc unless happy to have a third child regardless, but I am vaguely aware of there being timings/diets (?) supposedly conducive to conceiving...

Is this bollocks?

Thing is, there is something like 200m sperm per ejaculate. So even if timing makes it slightly more likely that a male one will succeed, or diet biases the female:male balance a bit, there are still going to be millions of XX ones and it only takes one.

I also think that if you have two children the same gender, there is a higher than 50% chance that the third will be the same again, though this is a population not an individual statistic.

So if he is looking for a guarantee, I don't think there'll be one.

theres a chinese chart (pink n blue squares) which works on your age and month at conception. don't know how but it worked 100% with everyone i know. sorry no link.

Oh yes, absolutely there is no guarantee & have to be happy with either - we wouldn't ttc for another 18m so very much in theoretical discussions about our possible family. Just wondering a bit more about it

For a boy you need to bd as close to ovulation as possible. Apparently mAle sperm swims faster than female. So if u ov on day 14 bd on day 13 or 14 for best chance of a boy. But of course there are no guarantees! There is a book by hazel someone but can,t remember her surname.
