I have 2 girls and would love a little boy to complete our family. DH has wanted to have another for a long time (boy or girl) but if I have another girl I think I will probably want to try again for a boy.

I will be trying this month & have been using Persona for the last 4 months. The ladies on the board are very helpful & have given me quite a few helpful hints. I have two girls & would love a boy. This is what i will try:

Will douche with bicarb powder
Will make my dh drink strong cup of coffee
will have orgasm b4 my DH
Will use the doggy style position

If you think about it, running a scheme that promises to give the right gender but gives money back if it fails to be right is still going to make money even if the method is absolute nonsense. They will always be right abut half the time by chance, so whatever money they do get, they will get to keep half, evn if their method consists of nothing but sending good wishes!

Hi, I would love to have a girl!!! I have so many boys in my family!
I am the only girl in my family, I have got s brothers and four of them are younger then me. I was so disapointed every time my mum came back with a baby brother I cried.
I am a mum now with TWO boys, who I love dearly. But I would love a girl next, I really would. I am sick of playong football, computer games, etc.......... I want to be a woman! My boys hate: shopping, me chatting on the phone with my friends, what they should wear, how they should take care of themsefves. HELP? My HB loves it, because he was the only boy in his family! He has got 4 sisters.

3catstoo · 29/03/2006 14:49

Yes you are right but if you are really hoping for a particular sex then there's no harm in trying. Not that I have got that far !!
I'm not sure about douching in funny substances though.

charliemouse2 · 29/03/2006 16:10

my dh was firstborn, so was his dad, and grandfather, and great grandfather etc. goes back about 7 generations, apparently. all firstborns were boys. he was convinced this would have a bearing on our firstborn. i was not so sure.

anyway, we did have a boy!

make of that what you will! Wink

Gingeme · 29/03/2006 16:50

Hi, I have 3ds and am pg again. Would love a girl as my dh has 2 boys from his previous marriage. I was told if you have sex as much as poss 2 days b4 ovulation the boy sperm which apparantly is faster(about the only thing about males that is)so they all rush to get to the egg then die quicker so the girl sperm then get to the egg by ovulation day. Ill let you know if it worked! Was great fun if nothing else : 0

3catstoo · 29/03/2006 18:13

Gingeme, how long before you find out? Will you find out at 20 weeks or wait for a surprise?
I don't know of anyone who has actually tried using these methods so it will be interesting to know.

ecofreak · 29/03/2006 18:22

Fisil, that's how we got DD.

hellywobs · 29/03/2006 18:22

According to the Chinese chart I was going to have a girl - and I had a boy!

Gingeme · 29/03/2006 19:18

Wont find out till 30th Oct my due date! My hospital has a policy so there not allowed to tell me :(. Im not having any more so if its a ds its a ds..

fullmoonfiend · 30/03/2006 09:17

I have 2 boys, both winter babies, so in my case, seems to be summat to do with the sap rising in spring, lol!! Afraid i can't remember any specifics about position or time of the month (but thats TMI for you anyway...)

revolver · 30/03/2006 10:01

The Chinese chart worked for us twice. We also checked the birth dates of a number of family and friends and the chart was right for all bar one.

maisiemog · 30/03/2006 10:12

I'll have to check this, but I remember seeing a programme about using lemon juice as a douche, apparently either girl or boy sperm thrive in an acid environment. I would probably help if I knew which ones. Grin

maisiemog · 30/03/2006 10:20

Oh look! Here it is!

samstar · 30/03/2006 10:23

I would not recommend any kind of douche - think Y sperm (boys) are better faster swimmers but not as hardy as Xs (girls). I think having sex on the day of ovulation is the key. If you have sex before ovulating the Ys die and the Xs last longer and swim (more slowly) to meet the egg as it comes into the uterus. Pretty sure eggs only last a day so if you miss ovulation day that's it for another month. btw a doctor told me that sperm can survive as long as 5 days in the vagina!

tallmummy · 30/03/2006 10:56

I have four boys. No idea how I did it as first 3 were conceived at about day 14 - 16 of cycle and 4 conceived at 9 days! This is not helpful at all really - sorry.Blush

VeniVidiVickiQV · 30/03/2006 11:09

Agree with faster short lived boy sperm and slower long lived girl sperm theory Grin

It worked in my case, well, i think it made a difference....who knows.

maisiemog · 30/03/2006 11:48

I know what you mean about the douche, not something I think of as very healthy. I seem to remember this programme about gender comparing a white witch to scientifically tested factors affecting gender. They were kind of looking for the basis in scientific fact of the witch's methods.
She was all using candles and stuff, but she also recommended putting lemon juice into bath water for a girl, which the scientists supported as linked to influencing the acidity of the vagina.
I don't know how much a bath can affect the ph, but maybe it's worth trying the alkaline - bicarb in the bath as well as the timing ??
Aren't a lot of those bath bomb thingies based on bicarb to get the fizzing?
Maybe lots of bath bombs before sex?? Grin
I have a boy already, so if anything I would be trying the lemon juice, but I'll see if I can find anything a bit more reliable about the ph of the vagina online anywhere.

Hi Tegan,
Completely understand where you're coming from!
I have two ds's and absolutely adore everything about them, and their boyish ways, but have a constant longing for a daughter, that has only begun since my youngest ds turned about 1year old and it wont quit!

I have found some great websites with tonnes of info on to help ttc either desired gender.....
www.ingender.com
www.fertilityfriend.com

Personally, I think I have learnt that the hardest thing is to pin point the exact time of ovulation. However I have found a moniter (similar to 'persona' idea, but without the expensive monthly urine sticks!)
This moniter (called eva-test) is used testing saliva and apparently tells you both, 1.when you're about to ovulate (a few days before) and then 2.when you actually have. Which seemed great to me! Rather more exact.
website is www.eva-test.co.uk

Hope this helps, girlygirluk

girlygirluk · 30/03/2006 19:01

btw.....from researching this ALOT over past few months, douching can be very helpful apparently, although personally haven't got that far yet!

In the US they do it all the time, (not just for gender determination, but also for cleanliness! but over here, were not so hot on it. You can even buy douching equiptment in the US. Alot of women on the websites I gave you before, douche both before and after having sex with either a acid or alkaline one, when they're ttc.

Apparently, its true, about acidic douche for ttc girl and alkaline for ttc boy. I think there's probably alot to be said for changing the ph environment, could be why some women only seem to conceive one sex.......

I havent been able to find out exactly how they test their ph. Im guessing by inserting a ph strip Blush sorry....desperate measures and all that! But im not sure where they get the ph strips from? If anyone knows about this let me know pls!

3catstoo · 30/03/2006 19:53

Girlygirl, pH test strips from www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk, £12.99 for 80 strips.
Let us know if you give it a go!

3catstoo · 30/03/2006 19:54

BTW they test urine or saliva.

4blue1pink · 30/03/2006 20:03

By trying desparately to conceive girls????

annasmami · 30/03/2006 21:36

In our case the 'faster short lived boy sperm and slower long lived girl sperm theory' did definately NOT work: after having had our daughter we wanted to wait a little before having our second child.
We therefore avoided sex around ovulation (I knew my cycles fairly well, as I charted my temperature daily). I still conceived during one cycle, when we had sex about 5-6 days before I ovulated (very sure about this).
So the 'textbooks' would predict a girl, but we had a little boy. So I personally do not believe that there is any scientific foundation to gender selection. But for fun, why not try some of the methods - as long as one is prepared for a child of either gender.

malodorantemelly · 31/03/2006 10:54

for a boy you are supposed to orgasm first, not him. def have sex on day of ovulation, about 12 hours after ovulation is best!!
