How do you conceive a boy??

I have 2 girls and would love a little boy to complete our family. DH has wanted to have another for a long time (boy or girl) but if I have another girl I think I will probably want to try again for a boy.

Yes but we could say the same about Out girls having to marry right Arseholes Wink

Elf1981 · 27/03/2006 20:03

Agree it's crap but I didn't make it up, just posted what was in PP!

DumbledoresGirl · 27/03/2006 20:04

You would feel differently Cod if you had one. I too have 3 boys (so just as clever as you!) and wasn't interested in girls, but I also have one girl and she is a pure delight in a way that boys never could be. Yes, she has hair and goes to ballet and likes horses and has an interest in fashion and fairy tales, and no, I am/was interested in none of those things (well, I am glad I too had hair) but it is still delightful parenting a girl.

Senoracod · 27/03/2006 20:04

oh i am sure ill miss it at certain points in my life but no it doenst btoher me at all now

Enid · 27/03/2006 20:07

you dont miss what you've never had

I don't 'miss' having a boy either but sure I would love one if it were to happen

robinpud · 27/03/2006 20:08

Just made mine the same way I made dd.. doubt you need clarification....Wink

I read somewhere that the "boy" sperm are the freshest in the pack so if you want a girl sperm to get to your egg first, you are best having sex every day for two days to get rid of the fresher one and then stop for a week then try again. Don't know if this really works, but it worked for me. Have DS age 3 and pregnant with DD (due in August).

tegan · 27/03/2006 20:25

Thanks for all the info.
May need to research this a little more before making a decision.

Both my boys were planned (which would support the "have sex on the day you ovulate" theory) and I'm still not quite sure what happened with DD Grin Pros and cons to both obviously, but it is nice to have a chance to be lucky enough to experience both.

muma3 · 27/03/2006 20:41

i have 3 girls and have decided to ttc .
boy/girl not really bothered but i am curious as to what it would be like ti have a son. tbh pink is starting to do my head in Grin

tegan · 27/03/2006 20:44

mumma3 I know what you mean both my girls are pink mad from bedroom to clothes to hair bands.
And I always seem to see loads of nice boys clothes but nothing so nice for the girls.

Cod, LTHat, I have a female BabyDragon going cheap!

MrsMaple · 27/03/2006 20:46

I thought that boy sperm swim faster, but have no staying power and that girl sperm are slower out of the block but can survive up by the egg for longer. Other than drawing general life conclusions from this, I think it means that if you have sex on the day you ovulate then wham bam a boy and if you do it a few days before then the girl sperm, who has been hanging around checking out the scenery, will hit the egg.
Have two ds and one dd, all as different and diverse as each other. Though did talk up the marvellousness of having three ds' whilst pregnant because thought everyone assumed I was after a daughter, and didn't want to be disloyal to the boy I wasn't going to have.

GDG · 27/03/2006 20:47

Have sex with my dh? He only does boys Grin

Apparently strong women have boys, or something anyway.

I've got 3 so it must be true - I am superior just like cod and lth

SoupDragon · 27/03/2006 20:47

I think that "trying" for a particular sex has to be treated like just a bit of fun. You have to go into it being happy to get either one.

LadyTophamHatt · 27/03/2006 20:57

Soupy, my Ds3 has fleecy sleepsuit that is a dragon.
I think of your little Dragenette when ever he wears it.
(actually whenever I squeeeeze him into it as it's getting abit tight but it's so cute I make him wear itGrin)

PeachyClair · 28/03/2006 11:45

Agree Soupy, we tried for a girl with ds3 but when we found out he was a boy (at scan) we celebrated because he was obviously pretty damned special to get through all those man traps Grin

wannaBe1974 · 28/03/2006 14:47

I agree with SD, trying for one particular sex should be just a bit of fun, because even if you do all the things that are written in this and that magazine, there is no scientific basis for most of it and therefore you can't be sure that you will conceive a boy or a girl.

nixnoo · 29/03/2006 09:44

Apparently the Chinese gender predicition chart is 93% accurate? Although I can only tell you in 3 months time if it is correct for me. :)
look at www.chineseastrology.com/wu/birthchart.html
Is it accurate for anyone else?

Mummyvicky · 29/03/2006 10:24

Just looked and scarily, all 3 of mine are correct on that chart!! Shock

3catstoo · 29/03/2006 11:54

Try signing up to one of those 'guarented to get your desired gender baby' things. I looked one up and it gave all the usual ideas but you have to pay for the so called best bit. About £70 - £100 depending on which site you choose. Dr Jonas method is one. www.drjonasmethod.com or www.birth-planning-center.net (they give free advise each week by email but tempt you into subscribing for £70 to their program, money back if it doesn't work.
If you are that desperate it's worth a look.
Good luck.

tegan · 29/03/2006 12:02

mine were spot on too. I am going to pring the chart out and work out when I need to conceive

wordgirl · 29/03/2006 12:14

According to that Chinese chart I should have two girls and a boy... I have three boys!

bubblez · 29/03/2006 12:48

according to all the baby books that i have read, including a couple medical books, 'mrs maple' has it spot on....

the boy sperm has a shorter tail, so can swim faster, so if the egg is nearer e.g. the day of ovulation or day after, the boy sperm will fertilise it first...
but the acidity of the uterus kills it off so according to the books the woman has to be umm... 'excited' so as to nutralise the uterus Blush
whereas the girl sperm has a longer tail and survives well in the uterus and can make the longer jouney, so the day or two days before ovulation will give you a girl...
according to the books anyway...

Dottydot · 29/03/2006 13:08

yes - having sex (or plunging a syringe Grin) the day of ovulation seems to produce boys - 1 each for me and dp and our friends who conceived in the same way have also produced 2 boys.
