thank you wendy and suss. I'm so aware of how much others have gone through, I hope you get some resolution soon. It's very hard isn't it.
Suss, thanks for the info about short protocol - I am so ill informed!

suss · 30/03/2006 09:37

Good luck to everyone. I found IVF very difficult, and did it all on top of work (what an idiot - i was entitled to time off!) The hardest thing is expecting nothing, but accepting everything. For those of you doing this for the first time, a lot of centres almost treat this as a practice run - they give you relatively low doses of hormones as they don't want you to over react, so it's probably bes to think of this as a practice. Once they know how you react, then the 2nd or 3rd go is more likely to work.

suss · 05/04/2006 14:17

You are right Kaangel it is really stressful when you are working my first three attempts I did whilst I was working. I did get pregnant the first time, but had a m/c. After the third attempt I decided that I couldn't do it all and gave up work. But I have been lucky enough to be able to afford it. Some clinic do say the first attempt is a dummy run, but I know two people who got pregnant first time, one with twins! So it does happen, and that means that for everyone that gets pregnant the first time someone else will have to try six times and not just three as they say.

Pruni - I just saw this thread and also saw that you are having treatment at the Oxford Fertility Unit. We have them to thank for our lovely DD. I do hope all goes well for you, and the others on this thread. Do CAT me if you ever feel the need to talk about your treatment, or the Unit. We thought they were wonderfully caring, though the paperwork side of things was sometimes a bit disorganised.

Firecracker · 22/04/2006 17:55

Have just seen this thread - hope everyone gets a BFP! Not quite May for me, but a FET transfer hopefully at the end of next week. We're lucky enough to have 2 children resulting from FET's and tbh I've been so busy that I haven't thought much about this cycle, I've just done injections and popped pills when required. Now, though, I am starting to think about it ... a lot! Have scan to check lining tomorrow, fingers crossed it's okay.

Debbsy · 22/04/2006 18:16

good luck for may ladies

expatinscotland · 22/04/2006 18:18

suss · 25/04/2006 19:43

good luck firecracker - hope everything works out for you. let us know how you get on! I am twiddling my thumbs a bit, feeling v broody but terrified its not going to work. How are you pruni, and katie rocket hows it going?

Quick update ... had two embies put back on Friday. They were both grade A and 3 and 2 cells which was okay as they were frozen at 2-cell pro-nuclei (ie. immediately after fertilisation) and so were only around 36 hrs old when returned - still ... soooo small. Now it's a case of sit and wait ... and twiddle my thumbs! Am very much taking the attitude that what will be, will be. If it works, absolutely fantastic, if it doesn't, we're really lucky to have our two children Grin.

Suss ... you start injections this week? Hope they go well - and that you end up with a little brother or sister for your DS. Katierocket - have you already transferred? If so, you're probably further into your 2ww than I am. And Pruni ... I'm guessing your tfr will be mid to late May? Anyway, hoping we all get positives!

suss · 04/05/2006 19:56

thinking of you firecracker, I am waiting for af before starting treatment - should be any day. Worried that it will arrive on Sunday or Monday as it will mean I have to wait another month as EC would be over the wkend. Argh! I have my fingers crossed for you both keep yourselves busy it helps and drink loads of water - it helps apparently ( atleast two litres a day.)

Have just seen this thread again. Oldiemum - yes I know what you mean about the paperwork side of things!! They are very caring too, but a bit stingy with the old info sometimes. I can't CAT but am prunepruni at hotmail etc - email me! (And anyone else, really, who fancies a chat.)

Good luck to all of you and really nice to get good thoughts from the non-ivf people. Smile

I am starting downreg next week, ET due mid-June (hooray). I'm in denial about the stimms injections though as my first three are due when I am away alone - DH did them last time and I can't even put a pin in my skin let alone a bloody great needle - and no-one around to press the button on the injector pen. F*k fk f*k.

Firecracker how are you??

Pruni · 06/05/2006 14:59

And suss - have you got started? When is ET due?

Firecracker · 14/05/2006 21:23

BFN for me folks. Sad Will try again as soon as we can but imagine it'll be months away. Oh well.

Suss ... hope you have got started and won't have to delay another month. Pruni ... fingers crossed for you.

sucessful · 14/05/2006 21:34

So sorry Firecracker.

I am starting the pill at the end of May and started injecting in June on 2nd attempt at IVF/ICSI. Had a failed FET in Oct 05.

Good Luck to all xx

suss · 23/05/2006 13:57

have had to delay for another month - so going for june hopefully et will be about third week in june. Good luck Pruni sorry you hate the injections - saw the price of the pen at my hospital it was almost £2,500! so I am with the vials and needles! My DH is a complete wimp and won't even be in the room with me when I inject I don't know quite what is worse! good luck to everyone else and sorry to hear your news firecracker spoil yourself now for a while and enjoy the wet weather!

how is everyone? started hormone injections five days ago and starting to feel them! Heading for a day 14 EC as it worked before!

OP posts:
Pruni · 14/06/2006 14:04

Hi suss - £2500?? No, mine were about £220 each, I think. Still....
I got on fine with the injections, big storm in a teacup, and can now inject myself bruise-free. [proud]
EC tomorrow and have over 40 follicles - gasp. Sitting down is a bit painful today....
All the best.

suss · 14/06/2006 14:08

oh my god pruni I am surprised you can do anything at all! Good luck for tomorrow I hope you are not too sore and that you get some fine embies - some to freeze too.

bl0ndie · 15/06/2006 09:14

Good luck ladies with your ivf cycles. I've been thru all this early last year (icsi - dh has low sperm count) so know exactly what it all involves. Now got my dd who is 7 months old, but am Shock at myself in that I'm thinking of doing it all again. Vowed I wouldn't though as I kinda made a pact with God that if I got pregnant I would be happy and not have any more ivf. But I would LOVE another baby.

Thinking of you all, hope you all have a positive July :)

bl0ndie · 15/06/2006 09:16

Shock pruni - 40 follicles!!! I remember being SO uncomfortable the day after injecting that Pregnol stuff and in the end they only retrieved 10 eggs or so

bl0ndie · 15/06/2006 09:21

So sorry firecracker
