quod that was an amazing video!
I also watch videos of people delivering baby news to their families and friends and there are some lovely ones on YouTube
I am pathetic

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 31/10/2012 19:02

rache also I didn't know that the ovaries and Fallopian tubes and uterus weren't connected!! Off to do more ^research^.
Strictly in the spirit of scientific inquiry, you understand.

HazleNutt · 31/10/2012 19:07

Oh as for no symptoms - my sister always had very irregular periods, sometimes months in between. So she didn't realize she was pregnant until she was 20 weeks gone! She's very slim and still didn't have a bump until about 6 months.
So not only didn't she have any symptoms, she of course didn't do any tests, scans, didn't avoid any foods etc. My niece is a healthy smart beautiful 7-year old now.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 31/10/2012 19:22

Haven't finished watching it yet but this is looking fab so far!! m.youtube.com/watch?v=f9BVDoQNQ5Y

Pipbin · 31/10/2012 19:35

My friend didn't know until she was 10 weeks. Her first clue was that she couldn't finish a cup of tea.

Aquarius1 · 31/10/2012 19:40

hello all. I'm checking in after being quiet for a bit - was rather down about getting previous af whilst hearing about tons of BFP's. Hearty and genuine congrats to everyone here with their bfp's though.

this cycle I decided to take more control and fork out for expensive ovulation test and actually try to stick to regular testing this time. It's paid off - I'm on cd16 and have just had a smiley face. Can anyone tell me- does this mean I'm about to O or have already? If the former it's bad timing as husband is going away for 5 days tomorrow - if we get on with it now are we in with a chance? any advice much appreciated...

Bunnygirlie · 31/10/2012 19:52

All these people without symptoms who were PG, did they still have bleeds then?!?

Pipbin · 31/10/2012 20:07

Got a smiley face? Shag now, right now! Stop reading this as get at it.
It means you will ovulate in the next 24 - 48 hours. However his contribution needs to be there in advance.
So I say again, stop reading and start shagging!

Rache1S · 31/10/2012 20:11

Aquarius I used the Clear Blue Ovulation Predictor along with BBT monitoring. We DTD the day before and on the day of the smiley face. We didn't DTD the next day (can't remember why) but the day after that (2 days after smiley) my temperature still hadn't gone up, which happens after ovulation has occurred, so we DTD again just to be sure we'd covered all bases. I only used the predictor and the BBT thermometer for the one cycle as obviously got my BFP. I would recommend temperature monitoring along side the OV Predictor so that you can carry on DTD after you get your smiley until your temperature goes up.

Rache1S · 31/10/2012 20:12

Well said Pipbin!

Pipbin · 31/10/2012 20:38

Bunny I can't say for my friend who got to 10 weeks, but I do work with a woman who didn't know she was pg until she went into labour.
Honestly, I thought this only happened in trashy magazines, but no, I know someone it happened to.
She was an adult, not some teenager in denial, who had had children before. She thought her missing periods were down to her feeling ill or the change.
Pains started and her sister was called over to help. Took her up to the hospital and doctors examined her. They couldn't find anything wrong, but the sister said 'if I didn't know better I would think you were in labour', they looked up her skirt and there was a baby.

Bunnygirlie · 31/10/2012 20:46

Crikey! You do always hear these urban legends about women who don't know they are pregnant til severals months down the line but is it really ever true?!?

OP posts:
Pipbin · 31/10/2012 20:58

Honestly true. I work with her and the baby is now in our nursery!

Badleg · 31/10/2012 21:06

May I join? I am a bit of a lurker on here but thought I might join.

I am 34 and got married last August came off pill in the June and had nothing yet. To be honest we go through fits and starts of actively trying its all to easy when working so hard to fit it in!

My username reflects the fact I am currently in cast and non weight bearing following an op to fuse my ankle!

The trying has now started properly again.

Look forward to getting my head around the acronyms and hopefully getting up the duff soon!!

Rache1S · 31/10/2012 21:18

Of course Badleg, welcome Grin

I found the acronyms difficult at first - the language of TTC seemed even more complicated than Welsh. There's a key at the top which seems to contain most of them. Elderberry Pavlova is not on it though Smile

Pipbin · 31/10/2012 21:31

Hi BadLeg, welcome.
In the nicest of ways I hope we don't see you here too long.

Oh, and Elderberry Pavlova? It's because when we do get our BFPs we will be elderly primigravida.

winkle2 · 31/10/2012 21:33

Welcome newbies :)

Badleg · 31/10/2012 21:34

Poas was the one I couldn't figure out! Now looked it up and realise I am a regular poas be it pregnancy ones or ovulation ones I did get very obsessed! But now housebound can't drive for at least another 3 weeks so saving lots of money not buying them!!

Quodlibet · 31/10/2012 21:36

Welcome Badleg and welcome back Aquarius who we hope is off shagging

Pipbin no matter how hard I try I just cannot fathom how that could happen in real life. I'm a bit jealous that you know one of these mythical women and can hear it from the horse's mouth.

The mind boggles - although I suppose for us we are so tied up with scrutinising what our internals are doing the thought of someone being unaware they were many months pregnant is just incomprehensible!

Badleg · 31/10/2012 21:42

Ahhh got it but admit had to look up what primigravida meant!!

I hope it doesn't take too long either. I peed on a left over ovulation stick and got positive so hubbie might get jumped on shortly!

Badleg · 31/10/2012 21:46

I also know one of those ladies who didn't know they were pregnant. A good friend of mine was 7 months gone when she found out. Her daughter will be 16 in December. She is a teacher and was around 26 at time so not someone you would think wouldn't know. She had no real signs of pregnancy either.

Bunnygirlie · 31/10/2012 21:47

Welcome to the gang Bad :-)

OP posts:
Pipbin · 31/10/2012 21:50

I work with both her and the sister. She is not a slender woman, but how she could be pregnant to full term and not know I just don't know.

janey1234 · 31/10/2012 21:53

Aquarius and bad - more typing, get to it! You see the Smile and as far as I'm aware it's prime DTD time.

FWIW I DTD the day before, and day of my Smile on ov kit (and not mych mire around that time for various reasons) and less than two weeks later got my BFP. It's weird - but oddly kinda fascinating - that it was one of those two times that 'worked'....

Oh and welcome bad, and welcome back Aquarius - we all know that feeling, hopefully it will be your time very very soon Smile

janey1234 · 31/10/2012 21:55

I meant NO more typing... Argh, bad advice there!
