Has anyone ever fallen pregnant using condoms?

I'm wondering how effective they really are used alone as I've been feeling strange (odd dreams which tends to happen when I've conceived).

My friend had her fourth child after relying on condoms. They are 98% effective so not foolproof

fastasleep · 23/03/2006 18:44

They are only something like 98% effective even when used properly! And accidents like tears are very common... but you're probably not pregnant!

fastasleep · 23/03/2006 18:45

You know it takes months for most people to concieve whilst using no protection so even if an accident did occur, the chances are you're not pregnant :)

I hope not. The pill is much more effective I'm sure- was on it for years with no accidents. I'm paranoid because in the past i have fallen pregnant at the drop of a hat.

Eep well, best of luck, try not to worry the chances still are incredibly slim... can you not go on the pill again? You could do pill and condoms?

My sister got pregnant while using a condom (it came off)Shock... For 1 year they tried conceiving and by that time she thought on getting back on the pill to give them a break trying...so it was a wonderful surprise for them to find out that she was pregnant!!!
So be aware that accident can happen with a condom... Myself had an Implanon put in my arm, I had it put in when DD was only 2 months old (so still breastfeeding)... She is now 8 months old, stopped breastfeeding when DD was 6 months old... and still no period (wonderfulSmile, and not to have to remember to take the pill.... NO SIDE EFFECT... so do enquire about it!!!

yep... thats how dd happened!

Me too. But tbh, if the condom comes off, or leaks or whatever, you know about it. Even if you don't, your partner would. So if you've had an accident then perhaps get a test done.

We are relying on condoms and have been doing since ds was born 2 and a bit years ago. We used them before dd came along and we did have an accident and dh did know straight away that the thing had come off. Since then we've had no accidents, we've been ultra careful.
