Is the mucusy stuff a definate sign that you've ovulated?
And if you've conceieved your children as per text book (middle of cycle) and your ovulation mucusy stuff changes to just after your AF would that mean you need to conceieve then?

I'm not sure if that makes any sense at all....but I hope YKWIM.

Can anyone help?

Not entirely sure TBH...but thought I'd bump this up for you.

Auntymandy · 23/03/2006 10:44

I seem to ovulate around day 12. day 1 being first day of period. Sometimes I have a slight discharge then heavier around day 12 yes. does that help?

harrogatemum · 23/03/2006 10:44

I dont know for sure but as far as I'm aware its normally the middle of the cycle, I think it would be pretty unusual to ovulate immediately after AF. Maybe its a sign that you are pg??!!

ImWondering · 23/03/2006 11:32

No def not PG.

My "mucus" (yuk horrid word) seems to be there much earlier in my cycle. Probably around day 10 whereas I concieved my children around day 16. It seems to have appaeared earlier over the months (my youngest is 2)

I'm not sure if I would still concieve day 16 or day 10 as the mucus is there( any earlier and I'd still have my AF).
Does the mucus defiantely mean you've ovulated or can you ovulated after the mucus??

Not really TTC...just always hopeful we'll have another.

(BTW I'm a regular but namechange coz family use site)

if you want to have another go for it between 10 and 16 days!!! every oppurtunity!! :)

cervical fluid changes throughout cycle .. it is egg white cervical fluid you should be looking out for ..I'd get Toni Weschler's How to take charge of your fertility book .. fascinating info .. but should also be doing body basal temp first thing in the morning .. if you can't be bothered charting then get OPKs to pinpoint when you are due to ovulate

Auntymandy's advice is bollocks .. sorry but it is .. and it is one of my bugbears ... it would be good for an average woman who follows the average (statistical average of 14 days before period) but many women ovulate earlier or later in cycle

MeerkatsUnite · 23/03/2006 12:40

Cervical mucus changes throughout the cycle but you should not take this alone as proof that you have definately ovulated. The surest way to find out if you have ovulated or not is to have a blood test done.

Only 12% of all women have a 28 day cycle and many of them will have the occasional cycle which is anovulatory. Also it is quite possible to have periods without ovulating (particularly if periods are irregular in nature).

ImWondering · 23/03/2006 17:17

Twigglet, it is the egg white stuff I'm getting so would that mean I've ovulated?

I find it strange that it's changed over the recent months...but I suppose I'm getting older so my body is changing.

I thought egg-white lasted a few days .. and cannot be taken in isolation as a sign of ovulation .. you need temps and cervical positioning for that

rubles · 23/03/2006 17:37

From my experience ImWondering, I can get the EWCM as much as 5 days before ovulation.

Also, it is my understanding that this type of cervical mucous comes before and during ovulation but not after, so it is not a sign that you have ovulated but that you are about to soon.

fresco · 25/03/2006 11:57

sorry to sound so rushy.

Gillian76 · 25/03/2006 12:00

So... is the CM the most reliable indicator of ovulation? :)

notasheep · 25/03/2006 12:59
