What does it mean if you never get a positive ovulation test?

I know I do ovulate (sometimes at least!) as have ds1 (21 months). Been trying for dc2 for 8 months and using ov tests this month. On day 25 and still no positive....cycle is usually aroubd 30 days although last two have been 33 and 36. So frustrating..anyone else just not get a positive on these tests??

What time of day are you testing? I think certain tests have certain peak times.

AnMum · 13/09/2012 16:25

Between 6pm and 8pm, as pack suggests...

I think 2pm is recommended. But I only ever got a +ive with 1st morning wee.
But I do think that the window to detect LH surge is small enough to miss.

Hi AnMum I had a few months of thinking that I never ov'd despite having had an MC. To start with I was just weeing on one stick each day as recommended for my cycle. I gave up and felt really disheartened. I have since bought loads of cheap ov sticks from the internet (about £7 for 50 on amazon) and wee'd on a stick every wee around the time I thought I should be ov'ing. Hey presto, I found out that I ov on CD16/17 in a 27/28 day cycle and that my surge usually starts in the afternoon and the peak of the surge is usually late afternoon / evening - once I've had the strong surge line the sticks afterwards are either arctic white or there is only a very faint line - so it does come and go in the space of a few hours (for me at least). Maybe give this a whirl one month to get a rough idea and then use less sticks as you get a better idea of where things are? All the very best with DC2 xxx

Thanks princess...going right back to basics in case we've forgotten them..best time is the 48 hrs after you get the +tive test, right?

As soon as you see it is ideal, as you usually ovulate 12-24 hours after the surge, sometimes as much as 48 hours but usually pretty soon after. And ideally the sperm need to be waiting for the egg to come out. The egg only lives 12-24 hours or so.

Good luck!!

I have never had a positive ovulation test, despite testing at the right time of day.

I definately ovulate. My DTs are nearly two Grin
