How long after mc until periods start again?

I had an early mc last cycle, at 5 weeks. Def. an mc - bled for 5-6 days, test went negative straight away, symptoms gone.

Not had sex since. Period should have started yesterday and I would normally get 2-3 days of spotting before, and all the PMT symptoms etc.

Does anyone know how long it takes for periods to start after an mc? I thought with it only being 5 weeks it would all settle down pretty swiftly.

Ta, and sorry if this is a stupid question.

Hi minge sorry for your loss, I was told it would take 4-6 wks for next af to arrive, i don't think how far along you are makes too much difference in what happens after, in my first I was further along but had much more problems in second such as bleeding longer and positive test with last mc at only 5 wks, I think most people find that their first cycle is atleast a few days out and usually that to a week, hope that helps

hi, sorry to hear about your MC.
I had a MC at 10-11wks in March and AF came 5 weeks later, I'm usually fairly regular 28d so it was delayed by a week.
We tried again, conceived and I then miscarried at 6 wks. By the time I was scanned at the EPU it was complete and blood HCG had dropped almost to normal. At this point I was charting my temp so I know I ovulated 14 days from the day my miscarriage started so it would have been a normal cycle length but I actually conceived again though sadly have just miscarried again.
There seems to be quite a lot of variation, from reading other threads. It's hard to know what normal actually is! Hopefully you'll be back on track soon.

hey everyone, sorry for everyones losses it really is a terrible thing to go through no matter how far along it is. I was 10.5 weeks when I lost. I had my AF about 3-4 weeks after I stopped bleeding from my erpc, but mine probably isnt a good example as it was a MMC. The only advice I can really give is that every miscarriage is different and the most useful advice I was given from a friend who had also been through it is that there isnt really a normal time, it takes longer than you think for your body to recover from not only the miscarriage but the pregnancy itself (and emotions can have a big effect on your cycle). Its been nearly 5 months since i miscarried and im still a day or two out each time my AF comes (and Ive always been regular) so I think its expected to be all over the place for a while. Try not to let it worry you, hope that helps
