Can I get IUI even though I can conceive naturally?

I know that sounds like a mad question! My first pregnancy was as a result of IUI (unexplained fertility and mild endometriosis) and was a text book, full term pregnancy.

Conceived naturally with dc2 and threatened mc all the way through, waters broke at 21 weeks and baby born at 23 weeks (thankfully she is fine).

3rd pregnancy also natural conception and similar to pg 2 but ended in mc at 16 weeks. I have had tests, etc and no explanation can be found. My sister has exactly the same problems in her pregnancies and this is also unexplained. In fact doctors have said there is nothing they can do for her.

I would like another dc and feel that the reason my first pg was a good one was down to the fact that it was IUI which involves taking Clomid. GP not really interested and doesn't feel Clomid could have made any difference as I ovulate anyway (albeit late in cycle so lp is only about i9/10 days).

If I ask for a referral to private clinic would they do IUI even though I could probably conceive without it?

A private clinic will certainly do it - you are paying them! You can usually self-refer too.

Thanks eurochick. Think I will make a phone call next week and speak to the local clinic.
