Got a 'preconception' meeting with docs - questions to ask?

Hi ladies

I've got a general pre conception meeting with my docs next week and have some questions I'd like her/him to answer but thought you might be able to suggest some more? The questions I'd like to ask are:

  1. Can I have a blood test to make sure I'm ovulating?
  2. How much temperature variance would she expect (I seem to be varying by about a degree a day - makes it hard to track...)?
  3. Does my BF being overweight affect his fertility?
  4. What's the best way to track ovulation when my periods are so irregular?
  5. Is there the possibility I have PCOS (I have quite a few of the symptoms..)
  6. If I know my cycle length is X days, what day should I be using an ovulation test? Or should I just pee on one every day after I've finished my period as has been suggested by a few people here?

I know I could get a lot of these answers on the internet but am hoping she'll be able to answer them in a way I'll understand lol.

Do you think there are any other questions I should ask her?

I had one of these. I wished I'd just stayed at home by the time she'd fobbed me off and made me feel small. Hope yours goes better.

I think you may find you don't get much in the way of straight answers....

If your gp is like mine, there might be an answer to the first question, but any subsequent questions will require another appointment....Hmm

Reading her other posts, I don't think weeblueberry needs a preconception chat anymore! Many congrats x

Thanks! :) Yeah it's looking increasingly like it's going to be an initial antenatal appointment instead. :)
