Depo: how long before ttc again

I'm thinking of coming off the depo. Been on it 3 years as it helps seizures but doctors would like me to come off it and get my body back to normal state as I've not had a period for 2.5 years. I'm happy to do this and know it means I'll be pill popping anti-e's left right and center, but, how long will it take for periods to get back to normal and for me to get pg again? OH and I are planning but need more info first. Especially since the planning has to be done via doctors only but I'd like to get any personal experiences from you ladies if you have any.

it can take a long time for fertility to return after the depo - sometimes over a year or more. Netdoctor says this:

Fertility does return once the injections are stopped, but the time varies from one woman to the next. Most women should start to ovulate 5 to 6 months after their last injection, but you may not conceive until 10 to 15 months after your last injection (or sometimes even longer).

Is that based on how long you've been on the injection for or is it literally just an average on the womans body?

I think it is an average and unrelated to how many injections you have had/how long you have been using depo

Thats ok then. I've heard a few stories where the longer you're on it the longer it takes for you to be able to concieve again. Being on it 3 years i thought is it going to take another 3 or more years before i can concieve again.

I had 2 sons then was on depo a year and it took me 3.5 years to conceive ds3!!!
My advice after everything i tried would be to go on the pill to regulate cycles for 6 months... Then have Accupuncture! Good luck! Hope it works out sooner..

I can't go on the pill. Sad it either stops my anti-e's from working or has a lower effect of the pill. I produce too much estrogen.

I was on the injection for 8 years and then came off for 15 months and went onto the pill. I barely had any AF during that time. Barely ever more than spotting.

I then went back on the injection for almost 3 years, having my last injection last November, and then going onto the pill in February this year, a week before my next injection would have been due.

To my surprise after my previous experience, my withdrawal bleeds were normal from the first month of pill.

I then took my last pill at the end of May after 4 packs of pill.

Although I've had 3 cycles of uneven length, I am having AF every cycle. And I also appear to be ovulating.

No BFP yet, but maybe if the average timings are likely to occur, I'm getting into the zone in the next cycle or two.

Hopefully this info may help a little?
