does anybody have really irregular AF?

im having a bit of a nightmare to be honest, i spend a fortune on Ov kits as i dont have a normal cycle as such, and as my partner works away a lot we have to arrange his work on the spure of the moment as i will unexpectantly get AF, any advice? Smile

My cycle was really irregular between DS1 and DS2 - anything from 28 to 40 days! For some reason now that I am not planning any more children I have the most regular cycle ever.

I took Evening Primrose Oil and Agnus Cactus supplements for a few months and found they helped a bit (esp as my PMT could last for weeks). EPO should only be taken for the first 15 days of your cycle.

Not sure if this will help you but FWIW.

Hi,

Have had irregular periods for years, it is quite a common problem. It is in your interests though to establish why your periods are so irregular.

It is a waste of time using opk's if your cycles are irregular. These measure levels of luteinising hormone. What happens with irregular cycles is that the levels of LH are often elevated so therefore the kit reads this elevated level. Therefore they are worse than useless in such cases.

Irregular cycles are often caused by hormonal imbalances and in this regard polycystic ovaries or its related syndrome are common culprits. Both conditions can and do affect ovulation. With irregular cycles you are less likely to be ovulating regularly if at all.

You can have a blood test done to see what your hormone levels are like. If there is an imbalance between the levels of LH and FSH then there is a hormonal problem. It can be treated but you should then be referred to a gynae.

Do not self medicate with Agnus castus; it can make any underlying hormonal imbalance worse. If you really want to take this would strongly suggest you see a medical herbalist.

I would like a third child but when i conceived my other 2 children my cycles were like clockwork(28 days) but now they are irregular. I have put on 2 stone since I had my last child and Im wondering whether being overweight has affected my cycle???

I need to lose abit anyway and hopefully my cycles may return to being normal again, if not I will see my GP.

Good luck

if you had a lot of stress last month maybe you ovulated late? Or maybe test again in another week - sometimes it doesn't show up for a while I think?
