Could my dates be wrong?

Yet again I have poas, only to pull another Sad face and chuck it in the bin. It's just not happening for us ttc#2. DH has just suggested that maybe I'm getting my ovulation dates wrong. Now hands up, this could very very easily be the case. Yet I've been using an App on my iphone and have used the mn calculator also.

AF is due in 2 days i broke and tested early BFN. Should I have waited?

Last AF - Started on the 31 July - length 5 days.
Cycle Length: 28 days.

So I have it roughly give or take a few days my fertile period would be from the 8th Aug - 15th Aug. Correct?

However today TMI alert I have been having a small amount of white discharge. Which made me think that maybe I've got things all wrong?

Any advice would be great, it's been nearly 6 months now and frankly I don't wait to have to buy a ovulation kit just yet Grin

HELP please Smile

The problem with online calculators/Apps is that they assume everyone has a cycle of 28 days and that you always ovulate halfway through your cycle. This is not true for the vast majority of women.

With a 28 day cycle you could, in theory, ovulate any time between Day 10 and Day 18! It might be worth buying some cheap ovulation tests from Amazon just to try and pinpoint you ovulation.

Do you chart your temperatures at all? They can't help you predict ov, but will show you when you ovulated after it has happened. After a few months you should be able to identify a pattern.

Jaffa, I would say those online things are useless, how can they possibly know when you ov? Everyone is different
It's best to do what's right for you but I find opk's great and when I first tried them had to use 2 packets as from the length of my cycle it stated I should ov between x and y and actually I was much later, at the same time that is usually consistent so you don't have to use then every month, why not try it for one month and see how you get on with them. You can buy them very cheep at bargin shops etc

Happilymarried155 · 25/08/2012 23:15

I too used the opk (clearblue smiley face ones, so easy to read!) and found out that I ovulated between cd 13-18, every month was different! I've now ditched them and make sure I dtd from cd 8-cd 20 every other day. I don't think it would do any harm using opk though, you might find that you have been ovulating earlier/later than you thought. :)

Get the cheap OPKs from Amazon.
Work brilliantly for me and as they are so cheap I don't mind if I have to use a couple in a day.
I know you say you don't want to but I said that I would never temp or use OPKs. Now I do both.

OPKs here

Thanks all. The app is good for my AF and I just put my start and end dates and it works that bit out. I will look at getting some ovulation kids off the internet.

Currently I'm 2 days late. Another PFN this morning. I've counted it up the good old fashion way and my dates are correct Confused anyway thank you, I'm now on knicker checkingGrin

The only way you can tell for sure is to chart your temperatures and use an ovulation kit. The cheapy ebay ones are fine.

If you aren't prepared to do that, and I admit it did turn me very obsessive for the 10 months I was ttc dc2, you need to at the very least look for the change in discharge for EWCM.

Have a look on fertility friend for fertile signs. You could well be ovulating later than you think and missing the 'right' days.
