Ttc and smear tests

Im due a smear test but also ttc. I'm pretty sure you're not meant to go when you're pregnant and you are meant to go in the middle of your cycle.

Just wondering what other people do? Just book the smear test and hope you're not pregnant? Or does it not matter too much so early anyway?

I try to book it in the early part of my cycle, after AF but before OV. I have to have them every 6 months.

Also my doc said try not to have DTD in the 24 hours or so before as 'it' can get in the way of the sample...
