My period is 1 day late

I had unprotected sex with DH once in this month

On a whim I picked up a pound land pregnancy test, did it a minute ago and pretty sure there is a really really faint line. Sort of when I angle it. At first I assumed it was neg but then this second shadow sort of appeared...

Does anyone know how reliable these tests are?

How long should I wait to test again?

I'm gibbering slightly.

Was the line coloured (I.e., pink or blue as opposed to shadowy grey), and did it appear within the time limit?

Sastra · 24/08/2012 16:48

Either way, I'd go and pick up a first response or clearblue digital, just to be sure.

bonzo77 · 24/08/2012 16:54

Get a first response and use with first wee tomorrow. Tests with pink dye work better than blue. Less confusing results for some reason. FR is pink. CB blue (of course). Hope the result you get is the result you and DP want.

Nodecentnickname · 24/08/2012 16:55

Pink and appeared within time limit.

So should I wait? Or just do it again tonight with a CB?

Oh yes the baby would be welcome. We were tcc our second for months then decided to give it a rest due to ill health. I have a lot of x-rays and so on booked this month so I need to be sure!

Personally, as you're actually late ( rather than testing before you're late) i'd test tonight - but I'm impatient!

Sounds positive so far though Smile

Pipbin · 24/08/2012 17:29

I would pick up a first response and do it with tomorrows first morning wee.

Or run into Superdrug and get a two pack, one for tonight and then one for tomorrow just to be sure.

HaveALittleFaith · 24/08/2012 17:35

First response early response would give you the clearest result. When I got my bfp the line appeared immediately. Clearblue aren't very sensitive and it would be early days.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 24/08/2012 17:38

Try and not have a wee for a few hours then retest with a CB. I got + on one of the digitals 4 days before my period was due with one of those and it was in the evening. In fact, the line on the cheapy eBay test I'd done that morning was barely visible not that I was a POAS addict oh no

Many congrats :)

Nodecentnickname · 24/08/2012 17:51

Yes I am really impatient as well. May have to get DH to drive to Asda!

Nodecentnickname · 24/08/2012 19:43

Ah bloody hell. DH said he can clearly see two lines on the test but on retesting with FR this eve it's come back as BFN.

Bit confused. Anyone out there with similar experiences?

OP posts:
Sastra · 24/08/2012 20:04

Its likely that your first test was more sensitive! Try again in the morning!

Nodecentnickname · 24/08/2012 20:15

Ok will do. Having a bit of a rollercoaster evening here!

Sastra · 24/08/2012 20:18

Do the packets give you the sensitivity? As a rule, a line is a line is pregnant. You just don't get false positives! I think you're pregnant Smile

HaveALittleFaith · 24/08/2012 20:45

I've had this - there's three likely possibilities. 1. (bad one first) its a chemical pregnancy - you get a positive but it doesn't implant so you get your period, perhaps a little later than usual. 2. You are pregnant but when you tested the second time your urine wasn't concentrated enough. 3. The second line was an evaporation line.

The only way you'll confirm if your pregnant is retesting in the morning. I hope it's 2! :)

Nodecentnickname · 24/08/2012 20:47

Done another cheapie and same faint line had appeared.

I need to step away from the tests...

Thank you Sastra and everyone for your support and advice!

Nodecentnickname · 24/08/2012 20:49

It wasn't a first response early response test. Just a FR one step so don't know the sensitivity on those.

I will try tomorrow!

Stay in bed while DH goes for a clear blue or pee in a jug to try morning wee.

Pipbin · 24/08/2012 22:51

Send him round here. I have 10 tests in my house. I am on the Clear Blue trial and they send me three a month.

Sastra · 25/08/2012 07:53

Am up and have fingers crossed for you Grin

HaveALittleFaith · 25/08/2012 07:53

despite testing 9 times I've still got one or two lurking! Any news with FMU?

Mama1980 · 25/08/2012 07:57

Fingers crossed for you

MollyMae · 25/08/2012 08:27

The first response one step aren't very sensitive. I bought those by mistake last month. I think they are 100 what ever the measure is where as the first response early ones are 25 and the Internet cheapies are usually 10 or 20.

Think I've just given the game away on how much I POAS :-/

Good luck
X

Nodecentnickname · 25/08/2012 09:14

I peed with FMu but negative result.

Might just leave it for a while.

Hard isn't it?
