When is CD1?

Hello ladies,

I have been prescribed another course of Clomid due to start on CD2. My question is, if my period began last night at 8pm, would today be classed as CD1 or CD2?

I think it would go onto today as cd1. And tomorrow as cd2.

But it might depends on the flow. i go to full flow in a couple of hours so for me it would have been yesterday

Full flow was definitely last night with full on period pains...gah, this is confusing!

Hello Pout I'd thought I'd come over here to keep you company. If you have a CBFM and your period arrives that day then you count CD1 as that day. If it arrives in the night then CD1 is the next day. But it doesn't say what time of night. We could say that anything after mid night is the next day anyway? I would dig my TCOYF book out but it's packed. I'm very confused as I've seen this 3pm thing before but can't fathom why that would be?!!!!! Do us ladies have our very own, yet separate from the rest of the world calender and clock mechanism?

Oh and I'll just add that my musings are probably not helpful! Sorry :)

I If you were full flow yesterday then personally would put cd1 as yesterday regardless of time.

Pout NHS says:
Your menstrual cycle begins on the first day of your period and continues up to, but not including, the first day of your next period
I think that this conclusively confirms that yesterday was your CD1 (especially with the full flow last night) and that today is CD2.

Princess I'd never heard the 3pm thing before and have been merrily counting CD1 as full flow before midnight. It only occurred to me this cycle because of the Clomid thing and the fact that it seems really soon to be starting popping the meds.
I am confused as to why menstruating ladies have their own clock too. 3pm seems a bit random as well!

frustratedpants I think I am inclined towards CD1 as yesterday too.

princess wouldn't "night" be after you've gone to bed?

I've heard the 3pm cutoff around these parts. Personally I've always gone with the obvious if there's blood in my pants it's cd1.

Aren't womens cycles based on a lunar calendar?

Ha frustrated well we could say after you've gone to bed or technically after sun-set?? Maybe when the sky is perfectly black?? Maybe in deep sleep only and not in the REM stage of sleepy-poos? As you say I've always gone for the blood in pants theory. Still I am interested to find out why TCOYF lady says 3pm

My current clinic says cd1 is the day you wake bleeding. Previous said bleeding prior to 10am. Bit arbitrary I think!

Thanks sinkingflame. Well looks like I have messed up and started the meds on CD1 - oops.
You'd think the enclosed leaflet with the meds would explain when exactly CD1 is.

I took 5 cycles of Clomid and the nurses told me - if the bleeding starts before 3pm, that is CD1. If it starts after 3pm, the next day is CD1.

It's not the end of the world if you've taken the tablets on CD1, but do tell your clinic what has happened just in case.
