hi my names sarah and i have 1 ds who is just over 10 months old. he is still breastfeed first thing in morning and last thing at night. me and dh have been ttc#2 for 5 cycles now and are now on 6th cycle. my cycles are over 35 days, usually ov around day 33 and my lp has never been longer than 9 days. i mentioned all this to my health visitor and she asked me a few questions and said she feels that my cycles are not like this because of breastfeeding and there may be some other reason for my odd cycles. she said if i'm not pg this cycle to go to my doctors, anyway i'd like to know if you think i should see my doctor? also do you think he will just tell me to wait until we've been trying for a year or because i've been charting and taking temps, etc for past 5/6 cycles and bd on the right days that he may decided to do something now? also any ideas on what he is likely to do if anything?
sorry for all the questions, just a bit nervous about it all.
tia luv sarahlou xx

Try not to worry,HV is giving you sound advice, go and see your GP.

I think there is a medication or something that lengthens the luteal phase??

Hi

I would second the suggestion made to see your GP with a view to having blood tests done. Temp charting and such like is not useful in such circumstances as the chart would be almost impossible to interpret.

At the very least you shoud not be dismissed and a blood test could be done. What they need to measure is the levels of LH (luteinising hormone) and FSH (follicle stimulation hormone). These two should be the same - if they are different in that LH is higher in level than FSH - this can be indicative of hormonal problems. These are very common and can be treated.

Don't be fobbed off!!.
