Understanding fertile times - TTC#2

We are TTC our second child now (daughter is 22 months) I've got the ovulation sticks which I've started using today. Am I right in thinking that I'm actually fertile for around 5 days before I'm ovulating?!

I'm presuming that having sex doesn't affect the result on the ovulation sticks? Not really sure what the LH surge is!!

Hi, not sure if it will shed any ight for ou but I read a forum post on another site from a natural fertilty expert that talks about recognising body signs to know when you are fertile, it may be worth a read or you could cotact her and ask a specific question, I will put link to the post at the end for you.
