Any advice gratefully received!

I'm 31, TTC number 1 for one year.. MMC at Christmas and odd, irreg cycles since. Day 21 bloods few months ago showed low-ish progesterone (27).

GP is doing more investigations- bloods and SA for Mr M, scan for me. She didn't mention when in cycle to go for scan. I know the purpose is to detect any anatomical/ ovarian abnormalities but I just thought it would be worth trying to have the scan at a time to try and show whether I have in fact ovulated?

Can anyone advise which time of cycle is best for this? I am guessing when you suspect you will ov is best- but maybe just before, or just after when Corpus Luteum visible??

Argh- thx in advance!

If you go just before you expect to ovulate, they should be able to see a mature follicle, ready to pop (you ovulate when follies are 20-24mm apparently and they grow at 1-2mm per day). They should also be able to check your lining. I've heard different things but around 8-10mm pre-ov would seem to be good.

After ov, they should be able to see the dent of the corpus luteum. This would confirm ov has happened.

I've seen both on monitored cycles.

As you say, this scan is just to look for abnormalities from their perspective, so pick the timing that works for you.

Thanks Euro.. I think I'll plump for right after as I just want to know for my own piece of mind whether I'm ovulating.. I guess that appearance must last a while as when I was scanned for missed mc they told me which side the egg had originated from!
