Hello,

I've been TTC for 4 months (came off Yasmin Pill 5 months ago). I had a withdrawal bleed after coming off the pill but NO period since :-/ I went to the doctor last Friday who is testing me for 'secondary amenorrhea'. I had an internal exam to check pelvis (similar to smear), due for blood test this week and on 11th Sep I'm booked for an internal scan to check ovaries. I would love to hear from anyone going through a similar experience! Anyone out there?

Hi, I had loads of tests done for my absent periods and was diagnosed with PCOS. The internal scan on your ovaries will be to check for any cysts, it's painless and over in seconds and they usually tell you the results there and then.

Absent periods can also just be a symptom of coming off the pill as well, some ladies go back to normal others take a while. I don't want you to worry that there is necessarily anything wrong. Unfortunately at the moment, all you can do is wait for the results. The blood results will let you know what your hormones are doing such as LH, FSH, Testosterone etc. have you had blood taken yet?

Hi Mooley thanks, that is very kind of you to reply! I am having the blood test on Friday. Not sure how long it takes to get the results. Thanks also for the reasurance that the scan doesn't hurt. I'm really bad at the waiting game! My friend was diagnosed with PCOS last year and she said she took Clomid and fell pregnant straight away so I'm trying not to worry too much but you know it's still a worry isn't it! What have they given you for treatment? Has it worked?

Oh Mooley did you have to have blood taken more then once? As you didn't know your cycle day how do they know what should be normal levels for that stage in your cycle?

No they only took blood once initially and my LH levels were so high that they knew instantly plus it was confirmed with the ultrasound as I has cysts on both ovaries. I started Clomid in June, had an ultrasound and all cysts have gone Grin plus I also fell pregnant that cycle as well and I'm currently 6+3 so it really doesn't have to be the end of the line. We were trying for 13 months and I never thought I'd see 2 lines on a test!!

Please don't worry (I know easier said than done). If it is PCOS or even PCO then it's very treatable and manageable!! Fingers crossed that it's just your body settling down after the pill though! Smile

Thanks Mooley and a huge congratulations to you! Bet you can't wait to reach the 12 week line to see your bean on screen! Thank you for sharing your experience and I can't promise but I will try to relax until results come back :)
