DulcetMoans · 11/08/2012 21:38

Time to move over ladies. Would love to start this thread by announcing my BFP but unfortunately I can't because we all talk too much to get to test date!

All going for gold medals in baby-making and bound to get there soon, aren't we???

Oh well I wouldn't think too much of it as your dr would probably want you to come back another day anyway. You know how they love to make us wait :-/ Yeah it is not likely that DH will respond well to DTD every day. I'll just do what I can. I personally still don't believe every day is going to make a difference. I really think I need the kick start provera drug to get my AF going!! Dr told me that they can't prescribe anything like that and once they see my scan they would refer me to the fertility clinic in the hospital. I am imagining that will take forever with the NHS. I told DH the news when i got home and he said we will go private if they can't help us so I'm glad that he is up for going that route. I will have to get printed results next time im there (I'm sure they can do that) to take with me.

Talyra · 23/08/2012 12:51

Hmm, yeah I guess it does seem unlikely with dates, I think implantation is about a week after conception.

nicola an elephant programe?! I get left in bed for computer games mostly. I'm fairly sure I missed ovulation for this month but never mind, still going to try and have some kind of romantic date night with steak and lots of wine tonight.

Roxyjade · 23/08/2012 13:40

Hey newbie

Glad your results are ok, yep jimmy said same that's why we are going private, the waiting list for us is 2 years so I need to wait another 6 months before she even puts a referral in then I would need to wait for appointment

Out of interest, she said that your progestrone is fine so you are ovulating, have you had your AF yet?

Lolcbcb · 23/08/2012 13:43

Hi newbie thank god all is fine!
Tbh I have heard about that DTD advice before- many years ago when my friend's sister was ttc and struggling. Doc told her to slow down on shagging so as she could get erm... A full load on ov. So there may be some logic.
I suppose it depends on DH quality and quantities of swimmers.

resipsa · 23/08/2012 14:04

Lol - this isn't my thread but I'm in suspense - did you sis's friend get lucky on the advice?

Lolcbcb · 23/08/2012 14:05

She did indeed!!! Got pg on the second month of less sex! And she was 35 at the time, had been trying for over a year. I'm not sure what else she did as I was quite young at the time and didn't even understand much about ttc x

Blockette · 23/08/2012 14:13

Hi! - I can officially join you now! but wondered what your advice would be ... I am never regular with my AF, never have been - so how do I work out my ov days are? - is it best to get a kit? - we have recently just been DTD when we felt like it - do you still need to wait until your next ov day should be or is it just 2 weeks? - new to this! - thanks!

Newbie2 · 23/08/2012 14:15

Roxy testing for progesterone is a tricky one because it obviously changes during the cycle. As I don't have AF I couldn't test at the right time, I think they call it day 21 progesterone test (or 7 days after your LH surge) to see if you've ovulated. The progesterone levels in my blood at the time showed that I was either at the start or end of my cycle. It is only due to using the digi OPK sticks that the doctor could work out that I was at the start of my cycle when bloods were taken. If I get a LH surge this week I will try and book another blood test to see if I can find out if I'm actually ovulating. Hope that makes sense!

Lol thanks for sharing that. I can see that there is some logic to it, especially If DH swimmers need to be saved up. In previous months we've been starting early so this could be one of our problems. Still doesn't explain why AF hasn't arrived!

Newbie2 · 23/08/2012 14:18

Block if I was you I would buy clear blue ovulation sticks. If AF is irregular then you can start using them straight away (it just might mean you need more) or if AF arrives then start using them on cycle day 6 (cd 1 being the first day of AF). You can buy them from Amazon or Boots. I'd suggest you get the 20 pack.

Blockette · 23/08/2012 14:24

Thanks Newbie, will do - glad your tests came back ok!

Roxyjade · 23/08/2012 16:59

Newbie that makes sense, that's why I have had and that's when they said I wasn't ovulating because of low progestrone

I think you will be fine , mine is horman in balance so hopefully the change of diet and light exercise I'm doing will help me ovulate,

NicolaHazel · 23/08/2012 17:48

Yeah...elephants on BBC 4. Thrilling.

Maybe I'll get some tonight. Only CD7 though, so not to worry yet.

God, just realise my friend is visiting next weekend, so hope I OV early or late so we don't have the vital moment while she's in the house!!

DulcetMoans · 23/08/2012 21:23

Glad there was nothing to worry about newbie. What surprising advice as well, like you said, different to what I had every been told/read. Worth a go though. Might be heading that way anyway here, CD8 and no DTD yet and away this weekend so might not get a chance until CD12!

block, ov sticks are probably one of the easiest ways to be sure but you can also look for changes in CM and tempurature. You don't have to wait for any times in particular but the most fertile days to DTD is just before and up to 5 days after ov I think. But don't feel you have to restrict yousefl to just then!

I've only managed CD3 thanks to my freaky 2 day AF, Dulcet. It's embarrassing when we have to keep a diary! Not sure it'll happen tonight now either, as H2B is sitting next to me on the sofa, snoring. Ho hum. Saturday and Monday it'll have to be then.

Hoping I can persuade him next Thursday night as my friend is here...will use that as a way to jump him!

Clearblue suggests temping isn't great (but that's to be expected) as it only drops AFTER ovulation, so you may have then missed it.

Oooh...set up my married name email address today. Only 7 weeks til I can use it. Coming round quick.

Newbie2 · 23/08/2012 21:54

Thanks Dulcet now for the scan! Bless you for signing up new email Nicola I did the same. Exciting when it start to feel like your new name :)

NicolaHazel · 23/08/2012 23:07

Yeah...trying to get used to it! Very exciting though. :-)

Did you say you get your scan results while you're there? I hope you don't have to wait.

Did your doctor say what happens next if the scan is normal?

Newbie2 · 23/08/2012 23:18

Yes I get the scan results while I'm there on the 11th sept. My Dr said that whatever the results bad or good I will be referred to the fertility clinic. If they can't find anything then they still need to find out why AF hasn't appeared and if they do find something then I will need to go to the fertility clinic to get the drugs. I don't get why the GP cant give me drugs then and there! I guess maybe they don't stock them?! Either way it looks like we will be going private now. No way can I keep waiting weeks like this, I need some answers before I go really insane!

NicolaHazel · 24/08/2012 06:34

Ultimate irony would be AF arriving the day of the scan.

FX you can get answers soon.

Lolcbcb · 24/08/2012 07:40

How exciting to have new married email address nic!
Have u got your whole outfit sorted?

LisaC2611 · 24/08/2012 07:50

Are you changing your name at work Nicola? That's when I found it the most real - and where it caused me the most problems! Wish I was doing it all again. Would love to have the day again without all the organising Grin

NicolaHazel · 24/08/2012 08:12

Yep, got my whole outfit, apart from ny earrings (I only just re-pierced my ears after 5 years!) and some flat shoes for the evening.

I am changing it at work. We will see how that goes. Badly, no doubt!

How are you today, Lol?

NicolaHazel · 24/08/2012 08:16

And Lisa. Sorry! :-/

DulcetMoans · 24/08/2012 08:20

Well, looks like I will be trying newbie theory as I just got my smiley! Little bit of a surprise, in only on CD9/10! That's a bit early, isn't it? Sods law though as we are going away!

OP posts:
NicolaHazel · 24/08/2012 08:47

Best get a quick one in!!

Newbie2 · 24/08/2012 08:53

Dulcet Shock you've stolen my smiley face today! Congratulations though, very satisfying seeing a smiley face :) hope you will be able to get on with your challenge today or is that now impossible?

Roxy I think I've broken my CBFM :-/ I reset it days ago and it is showing CD11 but asking for no sticks :(

Nicola don't say that :) my phone app says I should have AF on 11th, it's a liar though so its all good :)
