TTC#1 - The difficult fifth thread: the one where we all get BFP!

DulcetMoans · 11/08/2012 21:38

Time to move over ladies. Would love to start this thread by announcing my BFP but unfortunately I can't because we all talk too much to get to test date!

All going for gold medals in baby-making and bound to get there soon, aren't we???

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been off the radar, my phone reception has been rubbish while away at work and I've just got home this morning. So how is everyone? Update from me is I am freaking out...literally. Yesterday I called the docs for my blood test results and reception lady said they were in but they didn't understand them so she she said she would get a nurse or dr to look at them and that I should ring back today. So I've just got home and called. Reception women said she can't tell me anything now and my notes say I need to see the GP. So, as you can imagine I'm freaking out (probably over nothing, but still understandably freaking out inside). Luckily she managed to get me an appt tomorrow morning with the GP, so I'll have an answer tomorrow, TG!!

purplefairies · 22/08/2012 09:55

Don't worry, Newbie. I think they just prefer you to talk to the GP because they know the ins-and-outs and can answer any questions you may have right away. Being given information without the proper explanations can sometimes cause more concern.

NicolaHazel, it's comforting knowing that others have moments of indecision. My friend keeps talking about enjoying the "last nights out", "last nice meals in restaurants", "last holidays" before baby and it all sounded so final, like all of the things I enjoy at the moment will be completely wiped out if we manage to have a baby. Somehow that made me feel a bit sad. When I told her I'd still want to travel with a baby, she was horrified and said that would be totally impossible. My parents and most of my family live abroad and it suddenly hit me that I would be devastated if I couldn't fly over and share the baby with them....

Having said that, my friend hates flying anyway - I think she's relieved that her DP can't "force" her into it anymore. DH and I are total flight addicts. I appreciate it won't be as relaxing with a child but I really think travel is worth any inconvenience. Fingers crossed I'm not entirely deluded :(

NicolaHazel · 22/08/2012 10:09

Ah, Newbie, I'm sure it's as Purple says.

I got called into my GP about tests once for him to say they're fine. Scared me for no reason!

Fx for tomorrow.

Newbie2 · 22/08/2012 10:18

Thanks purple. I'll know for sure tmz which is a slight comfort. Regards to your 'not always sure' topic, I am witnessing friends react to babies in different ways. Some go slightly nutty post baby (I'm thinking of one particular friend who has become so controlling she and her DH fight over who's going to feed their baby scrambled egg etc) and other friends can't wait to move their babies out of their room into their cots so they can have a bit of their life back. I think you adapt to whatever suits you. It's best to realise that every parent is different so you will adapt to what suits you when it's your time.

Lolcbcb · 22/08/2012 13:16

Thanks Lol

Uuuuuh just had a mental 10minutes looking for my lost preggie sticks. Finally found them and BFN...also had a mental moment wondering if the GP would tell me I'm pregnant tomorrow...I've totally lost the plot and all control.

Talyra · 22/08/2012 16:58

I'm another one who suffers from indecision on this! And DH - he is really stressed at the moment and last night got to the stage where he was worrying about things like what if (so far non existent) child got bullied at school and we couldn't fix it.

Good luck Newbie for the tests!

I think I ovulated yesterday! Will have to see if temp keeps going up. Been having some intense cramps, which freaked me out a bit. I think it just can make you hyper aware of your body when TTC.

Roxyjade · 22/08/2012 17:21

Hi Lisa

I'm on cycle 7,

Newbie don't worry you will be fine , doctor
Probably just wants to speak to you themselfs as sometimes the reception get it wrong. When I first went for my blood tests the receptionist told me everything was fine, so when me
And hubby went to see her, she looked at my tests and that's when she mentioned I have low progestrone, I said the reception said I was on and she said they shouldn't have said that because your mot ovulating
So don't panic, either way it's better coming from a doctor than the receptionist

NicolaHazel · 22/08/2012 18:16

Hi to anyone new :-)

Lol, my sister has gone to Burnham today as they've gone down to Barnstaple on holiday. She said my aunt and uncle (Dylan's grandparents) are destroyed by it. Keep crying thinking about it. :-( My sister has laid flowers from us. Said there's hundreds there.

I hope it is ok tomorrow, Newbie. How's the new house? :-)

letsdothisthing · 22/08/2012 18:16

Hi everyone - sorry been absent for a bit - lots on socially and at work so haven't had a spare 5 mins! Read right through on what I've missed and just so so sorry to hear about your cousins son nicola, such a shock for the family and can't be easy being so high profile on news etc aswel! Thoughts are with you xx

newbie glad you finally get some answers tomorrow! Good that its with a Gp who can hopefully help with all your questions and even if they don't have the answers tomorrow- you can ask them to get back to you with anything they are unable to confirm!

purple your post was so honest - reminds me of how my thoughts were on TTC a few months back - and still have them now and again! Me and DH also live for holidays and enjoy meals weekends away etc! Really don't want that to stop completely and will do my best to make sure it doesn't have to! Don't get me wrong - really want a baby so badly but love my life with DH at the moment too!

Anyway enough waffle from me - hi to newbies and other regulars :) nice to read all your chat! Updated the lst as I'm cycle 2 and BFP due around 4-7th but put 7th to be on safe side :)

Newbie2 · 22/08/2012 18:38

Thanks for your reassurance ladies. I am still freaking out though Grin Takes a lot to calm me down!! Also, now stupidly nervous about GP's reaction for seeing me before scan as she told me to come back to her when I've had bloods and scan so I hope she doesn't feel I'm wasting her time, I will have to tell her I tried to find out over the phone because the wait became very long (in my head). If anything, hopefully it will just show her how desperate I am. It's very hard to hold a job down and carry on while you're waiting to find something so important out. I've dreamt about having children since I was 10yrs old when I spent most evenings baby sitting my neighbours kids. If it wasn't for my career and late marriage (not really that late but in my head I'd always planned to be married by 26) I would have at least 2 kids by now.

Newbie2 · 22/08/2012 18:44

I want 3 kids btw. Would love 4 but think DH would miss my attention to much with 4 kids in tow.

Nicola thanks for asking about house. All is going OK. We can't believe how much stuff needs doing. The previous owners really didn't look after the place v well. It's amazing how much you miss when you first look round a house. Now it's empty I can see that every room needs re painting and new carpet or tiles. Bathroom needs gutting out...the list is scary!! I think I'm happy though, still unsure :-)

Newbie2 · 22/08/2012 18:47

Also, did not realise that they would take every curtain pole! I've had to pin up some old sheets. We feel like squatters ;)

NicolaHazel · 22/08/2012 18:50

You'll get there, Newbie :-) Especially once you start to make it your own.

Thank you, lets. I've been so touched by everyone's kind words and thoughts. I hate being separated from my family at times like this. I'll make sure I see them when I next go down.

And sorry AF got you, Lol. But at least you WTF cycle is at an end.

NicolaHazel · 22/08/2012 18:52

I hate it when they do that without telling you, Newbie. Just think of the excuse for shopping!

Lolcbcb · 22/08/2012 18:55

Enjoy the house newbie! Taking curtain poles is cheap of previous owners! Each to their own I suppose.
Nic must be hard to be away. I told DH I know someone who knew the little boy and he asked who... I then realised I don't actually know you so I just made something up Grin

NicolaHazel · 22/08/2012 19:08

Well, you kind of know me!

And I keep doing the same thing when I mention a non-TTC topic we've discussed. Don't want my habit to be unearthed.

flutterby123 · 22/08/2012 19:27

Hi guys, Newbie - that's crazy about the curtain poles - who needs old curtain poles?? Well AF came today, so I guess I'm on to cycle 2, BFP due 22nd Aug. Argh! It's frustrating, after you've DTD it's just waiting to find out. I've just had the longest cycle I think I've ever had - 40 days. I hope the next one isn't as long. How's everyone else doing?

flutterby123 · 22/08/2012 19:28

LoL, I mean BFP due 22nd September!

Lolcbcb · 22/08/2012 20:05

I'm also due 22sep flutter!
I know what u mean nic, I feel I know u bit id have to come clean about my MN habit so I thought I'd pretend one of my customers knows you! The beauty of working for retail!

Roxyjade · 22/08/2012 20:13

Lisa sorry BFP due 18th September (no chance of it happening with me) I can't wait to go for my appointment, this TTC is doing my head in

Newbie , glad the new house is lovely (well if
It had curtain poles, lol) atleast the new house will take your mind off TTC and you will prob conceive sooner because your not thinking of it. I agree I would def have 2 kids by now but hubby wasn't ready :(

Newbie2 · 22/08/2012 20:39

You're right Nicola in time it will feel like ours. Wow, when did I become so negative about silly stuff? I feel like I've changed since starting to TTC, even though it's only been 5 mths. Maybe it's the disappearance non arrival of AF that has knocked my confidence. I used to be so decisive and more positive! Wonder if anyone else TTC is experiencing this? I'm sure some of you're :-/

NicolaHazel · 22/08/2012 21:53

I know what you mean, Newbie. It's like every decision is heightened and debated. Maybe because deciding to TTC is HUGE. I'm not sure.

Maybe you'll get some confidence back after seeing your GP? What time is your appointment?

Newbie2 · 22/08/2012 22:21

My appt is at 10am. Finished unpacking the kitchen...horrah!
