Getting pregnant after being on pill

How long does it take to have normal periods after stopping the pill? Dr said had to wait until I had had one before trying to get pregnant.

yes that a bout right as the first period you get after stopping is just a withdrawal bleed not a true period but then after that it is okay, but they only say that so they can date the pregancy from the last true period

oh it was just a month for me to get periods again, after being on diannette

missd · 09/03/2006 14:32

It was a month for me too, I'd been on the pill for 10 years.

They only tell you that so that it makes it easier for them to date the pregnancy - it's for their convenience, not yours, so don't feel you have to be bound by that. The first time I came off the pill it was 13 months before I had a period, and that would be a huge amount of time to have to wait if you were ttc.

some people advice you to come off the pill for a little while before getting pg but I'm not sure why. As JennyLee says your first period is a withdrawal bleed but once that's over you should be back to normal.

With my dd I just stopped taking it and was pg within 6 weeks. I'm now working on a repeat performance!

Thanks for that! I was on Yasmin, but it must all be the same.

I got af back after one month but it took a year to conceive dd (had been on microgynon on and off for about 5 years) No problems with me or dp, just takes some people that long to ovulate again apparently.
