Hi,

Regular on Chat and a few other boards. Have NC'd for obvious reasons.

So, I have regular 28 day cycle. Haven't been TTC, although my partner and I had discussed TTC in the near future. I have a child who is older than 5 (trying to be secret squirrel in case anyone recognises me ha!)

Last week had spotting, then nothing. Over the weekend tender breasts. Due on period today, nothing. Purely to put my mind at rest I did a test this afternoon and got a definite (but not strong) positive line and a strong negative line. I followed the instructions to the T so am sure i did it correctly. Package said both windows would show a line for a positive result.

After a couple of hours I did another test, a faint positive line and a strong negative line.

I have another test to do tomorrow. Will do in the morning as it says you should.

What do you think? (oh and I will be so happy if I am, but also worried at getting excited as it is very early days)

Thanks for reading, appreciate any thoughts.

In my limited experience, a line is definitely a line - it doesn't matter how faint it is! So congratulations! When I was pg, the first few lines were virtually invisible. Someone on here recommended getting a pink dye test, which I did, and the line was much stronger. Also, I bought a digital test - you don't really doubt it anymore when the word 'pregnant' comes up!

I so want it to be true.

I would be devastated if it weren't. I almost don't want to believe.

DP is in utter shock, happy but in shock. I've told him to just relax as it may not be definite.

I keep thinking "it's a line, if the hormone is there, it's there" but then I think "no, it was too faint"

I can see me going through a million tests before I believe. I reckon the digital test could be a good idea. That's what I did with my first child.

I've been saying for months that by this time next year I either wanted to be pg or on my way to being pg, but this has taken me by surprise to say the least.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, do the other test tomorrow and pray and hope it's a positive!

Thanks for replying woody Smile

I don't follow. Do you mean the test had two windows and you got the test line and a negative?

CouldItBeTrue · 30/07/2012 19:02

Yes, the test had two windows.

If both windows were blank - faulty test

If one window had a red line - negative

If both windows had a line in each - positive

So, I had a very clear line in the negative window and a faint but definite (ie not just the watermark) line in the positive window.

Hope that makes sense?

Oh ok I think I'm with you. So one window is the test window - and obviously you'd get a line in there, and the other window is the positive/negative window - and you got a line in there too! Well congratulations! Grin

ShowOfHands · 30/07/2012 19:11

You have a control window which shows the test has worked and a window where you get a line if + and no line if -

You have two lines, you're pregnant.

Congratulations.

FamiliesShareGerms · 30/07/2012 19:13

Congratulations - a line is a line...

CouldItBeTrue · 30/07/2012 19:20

Errr, I think so, it was only a cheap test - £1 in my local chemist (has a 99% accuracy rate though?) I've uploaded the pic I took of the 2nd test, it's not very clear but you can just see the faint line.

Oh, you said congrats too

I feel sick, I know it's all in my mind, but I do!

Oh, cross posts!

Thank you all, still refusing to believe even though the evidence is compelling! Grin (I am not thinking of names, no sireee Blush )

I've uploaded a pic but for some reason it won't let me make my NC profile visible, even though I've saved the changes!

Grrr.

Just checked your pic - congratulations!

Leftwingharpie · 30/07/2012 19:34

That's very clearly positive, my faint line was much fainter than that!

rosieposey · 30/07/2012 19:39

That's what mine looked like on the day af was due ( and a few days after, I'm 19 weeks now) its not actually that faint, it's a definite positive :) congratulations - wishing you a happy, healthy and uneventful 8 months!

God, I don't know why but I suppose I needed to hear it from the experts before believing.

Jeez. 4 weeks in. EDD 8th April 2013.

Oh lord.

Thank you for your help/expert opinions. I will make sure I post in the Pregnancy topic henceforth as I know there are lots of people TTCing here and I wouldn't want to upset anybody with my news.

Thank you again Thanks
