Hi there, hoping not to gross anyone out! Bit of backgroung info; I already have a beautiful girl, turning 4 in November. My hubby and I have been trying for 2.5yrs for brother or sister for dd with no success! My GP only offered my a 21 day blood test which came back normal!
My DH and I are looking at things we can try. I've found on the boots website some lubricants that can help with sperm Motility etc. Has anyone tried any of these and what sort of success did you have? Thank you in anticipation of any advice! xxx

Um, I've tried it. It's called something sexy like "Preseed". I try not to think about that during the sex or it puts me off a bit....:-)

It wasn't so much because I believed the claims about conception but because DH and I wanted to have sex every night to conceive. He is ahem, extremely well endowed, so unless we are going to have lots of foreplay, lube is necessary for a quickie (and a lot of it contains spermicide). We have a toddler so our chance for sex during the week is essentially 10 min every night!!! Grin

Anyway, I conceived on my first cycle using it. It took me three years and fertility treatment to have our first baby. So this time it's been pretty quick. I don't think it's down to the lube really but it doesn't seem to have done any harm.

Good luck.

Thank you, and lucky you! Lol :) I've heard of preseed. It's not really so much for the lubrication, we've never had a problem there :) it's just the 2 on the boots website that actually claim to improve sperm motility and contains all this special stuff that's supposed to help! I just wondered whether it was worth trying!

I think it can't hurt and it there is no impact you can ditch it. I thought anything was worth a go after our problems conceiving before. It's a lot cheaper than other methods of conceiving so maybe worth trying one tube.

I'm trying pre seed after 12months ttc baby 2.

Doesn't do any harm!

NeedAPCOSMiracle · 29/07/2012 07:34

Conceive Plus is another one out there. I actually found the preseed a bit irritating down there iykwim, like a burning feeling when it mixed with the sperm (sorry tmi). No probs with conceive plus.

I'm not sure if I believe the hype or not - I haven't got a bfp yet - but it definitely doesn't do any harm. It can help with hostile cervical mucus I think.

I conceived the 1st month of using conceive plus after ttc with no joy for 17months. Unfortunately it was a chemical pregnancy. However we got straight back on with ttc using conceive plus and conceived again the following cycle. I'm nearly 12wks now. I would say its definitely worth a try! Good luck :)

Geeklette · 29/07/2012 10:07

I've had chemical pregnancies with both of my last two cycles. These were the first cycles that I had used conceive plus - but they were also the first two cycles where the benefits of a number of changes would also have kicked in. I have no idea if the conceive plus helped, but I'm sure it wouldn't have hindered. FWIW, DP has low motility and low morphology so we felt his little guys needed all the help we could give them.

There is a picture on the conceive plus box that shows the difference between sperm meeting a bog standard non-spermicidal lubricant after 10 minutes, and sperm meeting conceive plus after the same length of time. With the bog standard, the lube seemed to form a barrier and there were no sperm in it, whereas there were more sperm in the conceive plus lube than there were in the sperm fluid.

I'm using Conceive Plus. Hasn't worked so far but it does help matters along around OV time! It's quite runny but generally quite useful.

iloveberries · 29/07/2012 11:10

Does anyone know what the difference between pre seed and conceive plus is? Thanks!

boardblonde · 29/07/2012 13:10

I got pregnant first month trying with preseed but mc. Tried for 8 months and had not been using lubricant tried conceive plus last month and got bpf. Both times I used the applicators and used the full amount. One other thing I tried after some research is that each time we dtd I didn't O until after my husband.

Girly2508 · 29/07/2012 14:34

Thank you all for the info. I defo think it's worth a try, like you say, it can't do any harm ;) I'm just getting to the stage now where we'll try anything and not being stingy, but worth trying the cheaper things while we're looking in to longer term more expensive options :) hope you're all having a lovely Sunday! Xxx

Hi there

I tried for 18 months and had a loss before getting pg with my first DC. Was a bit more proactive this time and bought OPKs, preseed, the lot. I have known fertility issues so was keen to throw everything at it.

Well totally different story this time.........

Conceived first month of trying using the preseed but lost the baby unfortunately. But carried on using it the month after, it ran out and no BFP but then bought the cheaper conceive plus and conceived the next month. Am now almost 33 weeks.

So both equally successful this time, however it was a combination of using the OPKs and a hell of a lot of luck!
