Mirena removal and periods getting back to normal?

Will be taking out my mirena shortly as we wish to concieve in approx july. I understand that fertility can return straight away and could concieve straight away but will be using other methods till july.

Did you find that your periods were heavier than before using it, did you skip them or did they just go straight back to what they were before.

Stories/help please

Thanks

Hi Jelly jelly
I had my Mirena out last August. My afs before I had it in were really really heavy and flooding, a real nightmare! They all but disappeared while it was in. Since it has been out, I straightaway had regular afs, every 3-4 weeks, but really quite light. My last one was a nightmare though, as heavy as pre-Mirena, but still on time (more's the pity as we are ttc!) Hope this helps!

Don't take my failure to get pg as an indication that Mirena has affected my fertility - I am 39 and think my age may have more to do with it!! Good luck with your ttc!

I had a mirena for 4 years, had it removed in May 2004, got pregnant in July so only had one normal period in between

Thanks, dont think i am worried about the fertility as i know it comes back but getting married on 1st july so want to start trying after but wanted to get back to normal in time for it. Will arrange for it to come out soon then.

Anyone else?

I got married in the June, very busy few months they were! Fertility is supposed to be normal immediately after removal because the progesterone is removed.

jellyjelly - I had a mirena coil for a year and only had two very light bleeds. I had it taken out in March and had some light bleeding straightaway - I was pregnant in April!

Having mine fitted next week, so can I just hijack and ask does it hurt having it removed? I've been assured it's okay (little uncomfortable) going in but am already panicking about having it removed. thanks

You could be worrying for a long time as they can stay in for five years!!Havent had mine removed yet (next week and will post about it) but i wanted to know about others because i want to concieve after my honeymoon/on honeymoon which is in july so wanted enought time to settle down.

Have a couple of paracetamols before, have you had a child already?
