Will Clomid turn me into a basket case?

So assuming the witch turns up this month I'm due to start taking clomid next cycle.
I didn't get on too well with 'the pill', it sent me rather loopy. As clomid is a big old load of hormones will it do the same?

I have my appointment to get it on Wednesday so I can ask then, however I'd rather hear from people who have taken it.

It sent me murderous, but only when ovulating :) I know other people who have been fine with it though

darthsillius · 23/07/2012 18:29

I noticed no changes at all. I only took it for 2 months. I'm quite angry and short tempered normally though!

janji · 23/07/2012 18:35

No side effects for me and a beautiful baby boy conceived during the first month of taking it!

Nuttyprofessor · 23/07/2012 18:37

My DN took it without any ill effect. I am delighted to say after trying for 15 years she is 12 weeks pregnant.

Hello, to be honest clomid did send me loopy. Had terrible moodswings and hot flushes that made me feel menopausal. Also zapped any sex drive I had! Gave up after 2 months as couldn't handle anymore. However menopur (another ovulation induction drug) is AMAZING! Zilch side effects. Don't be put off though, everyone reacts differently.

Pipbin · 23/07/2012 19:07

Thanks ladies.
If it works then it's worth it.

The Pill made me mental. Letrozole (similar to Clomid) didn't (just gave me a few hot flushes). IVF drugs, on the other hand, turned me into a proper gibbering wreck (to the extent that I had to abandon my cycle as I couldn't take another day on them). As you sound like the Pill does the same to you as it does to me, I would do anything to avoid the IVF drugs.

Yip, clomid made me mental too, hot flushes, over tired/zombie like, paranoid about nothing, luckily fell pregnant after first course as gp said that if it didn't work they would have to put me on something else, if affected me that bad. Saying that i still have the second round in the cupboard, that im keeping to use when we ttc next year, as the temporary mentalness is a small price to pay for a lovely baba.

Northey · 23/07/2012 21:03

The pill made me very low and odd. Clomid hasn't affected me mentally at all, apart from the hot flushes driving me crazy.

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 23/07/2012 21:25

No craziness here just headachey, nauseous and very tired whilst on it. Currently in my 1st 2ww with it so hoping I'm one of those lucky ones that falls first month!! Have been more crazy since ovulating Grin

blueberryboybait · 23/07/2012 21:29

I was a 'tad' edgy according to DH, I found the symptoms were easier to deal with once I discovered taking it before bedtime made the worst of the effects happen when I was asleep.

Pipbin · 23/07/2012 21:29

Is the craziness due to normal have-been-ttcing-since-forever-tww craziness?

OP posts:
blueberryboybait · 23/07/2012 21:46

It's like PMS on speed with hot flushes for aded irritant. Grin I found it made my cycles a little longer (3 or 4 days) some months and when I had mad PG symptoms I wasn't and the month I had nothing at all I was!

Northey · 23/07/2012 21:50

I've got no symptoms at all this month, bbb! I shall take new heart :)

mrsmellow · 24/07/2012 08:36

Hey pipbin I was a crazy emotional yoyo on clomid last cycle, especially the last week or so - but really don't know if that was due to have-been-ttcing-since-forever-tww-craziness and disappointment or Clomid!
I'm on letrozole this cycle and CD31 and emotionally relatively stable...so either pregnant (will test tomorrow if no AF) or it is better! Grin fingers crossed!

TremoloGreen · 24/07/2012 17:42

Watching with interest - I'm hoping I'll start on it in a couple of months (currently waiting to get referred/seen). I'm mental anyway around ovulation, so I suppose that might crank up a notch. I've got some annual leave left to take, so was planning to save it for any days I'm feeling too awful... fingers crossed I'll be one of the lucky ones?!

Do you guys take it at night or during the day? Wondering if it might be best to sleep through the side-effects, or if it just keeps you awake, adding sleep deprivation into the mix?

Northey · 24/07/2012 20:13

I took it first thing, trem. And had hot flushes all night.

Pipbin · 24/07/2012 22:24

Of course I'm hoping it doesn't get to it but if AF does show next week then I'll be taking clomid over the summer holidays when I can, being a teacher, be as mental as I like.
