If you are breastfeeding, when did your periods return or what did you have to do?

How old was your little one when your period returned?
Did you have to stop breastfeeding completly? Stop nightfeeds? Had longer breaks in-between feeds because you returned to work? Started weaning?

Please enlighten me. DD is almost 6 months and ebf. There's no sign of my period and we'd like a maximum gap between her and the next DC of 24 months. I'm not optimistic Sad

I think it depends on the woman. I wanted the same as you. By the time dd was 12 months old we were down to one feed at 4pm and my periods still would not come back. Had to completely stop at 13 months and it still took 6 weeks for periods to return.

I think my experience is quite rare though. Most seem to get their periods back sooner than that. I was lucky when bf had no problems and loads and loads of milk. I think I had a lot of bf hormones and it delayed ovulation. There is a good thread on here for women trying to conceive while bf. They are. Very friendly bunch just say hello and they will help you.

Mine returned when they started eating more (BLW) and so reduced milk feeds. For DS that was 9 months, we conceived again when he was 11 months, so DD was born when he was 20 months. For DD, it was 10 months as she took a bit longer to reduce feeds.

Mine returned at 9 months, I'd cut down to feeding once in the morning and once to put him to bed at nigh, so for me it was when I went from 3/4 feeds down to just 2.
