Hi everyone, I am wondering if any of you got pregnant whilst breastfeeding (with no period)? I'd like to get pregnant again soon but I want to breastfeed my DD until she's about 18 months. Thank you.

Yes, it's possible. At some point you'll start ovulating and may catch the first egg before you have a period. Lots of people have their period come back while still EBF, dd was 4mo when mine did. I got pg when she was 11mo and I was still feeding loads.

I got pg with first egg as it was before af but did stop bf that month, I had cut it down to one feed aday for over a month and there was no sign in it comming back so for me I think I had to stop to get pg, I think you will probably get to know but I'd say if they've not come back by 11 months ( I think I read most do by 10) and they are weened you may have to stop if you want to conceive

Yes, I have one friend who stopped bf at 14 months, because she was pregnant.

I also know several people who tandem feed, so conceived while feeding, but don't know when AF returned.

It is definitely possible to be pregnant before any period, as to have a period, you have generally ovulated, and if you catch that cycle right, you might well be preggers, but as you have no idea when your cycle will return, it can be quite hard to know your pregnant again.

Yes, me.

15 months between children, so must have been at about 6 months

I didn't, but a friend of mine did conceive at around 10 months with no periods - her older child was eating solids as well as BF by then. She carried on breastfeeding for a while, but knew she was pregnant as she had nausea straight away.
