Has this happened to anyone before - missed period

I last had my period Saturday 9trh June. That's 40 days ago. I have done pregnancy tests and they are all negative.

I went to the doctors about it and, because we have been trying for a year, he referred me for all the usual tests but he didn't have an answer for why my period didn't arrive.

My cycles over the past year have been as follows:

33
34
32
32
27
34
30
35
33

and now this flukey long one at 40 (and counting?..)

I have decided to act like my period came and went and start DTD again for this cycle but I was wondering has this happened to anyone before and, if yes, what was the reason for it?

My periods have always been shockingly irregular - I think the shortest cycle was 21 days, longest was 46. Weird. But yes, I think it is 'normal' to have the odd missed period. It can be caused by increased stress levels, weight loss, extreme exercise, v limited diet or other things. Would any of these apply to you?

winkle2 · 18/07/2012 19:51

nope, none of those apply to me :(

I've had a couple of weird ones like that, winkle, and still not PG.

resipsa · 18/07/2012 20:01

Hi W can't believe you don't have an answer yet. I've had a couple of weirdly long ones; usually 31-33 but 41 days in March 10 (and infer nothing from this but I got pregnant in April 10) and 37 in Dec 11 (again, infer nothing but pregnant again in Jan 12). Our bodies just don't play ball sometimes, do they?

RancerDoo · 18/07/2012 20:07

I'd guess your period hasn't come because you haven't ovulated or ovulated late.

You can just have a random anovulatory cycle (which is normal) but ov can also be delayed by illness, travel etc. so if you were unwell a few weeks ago, that may be the cause.
Your cycles are a bit irregular, although not massively so (they seem a bit like mine). Is your gp going to send you to a specialist?

winkle2 · 18/07/2012 20:13

I was ill at the beginning of my cycle - around CD10-13 so maybe this has had an effect?

Docs has sent us for all the fertility tests: checking thyroid, 21 day bloods etc.

Hello Love, I've been here, lurking here and there but not being so involved with a TTC thread.

Too fucking depressed about it all TBH Sad Had I not MCed in the new year I'd be thinking about heading off on maternity in a couple weeks. It's all just so shit that I haven't wanted to talk about it all. Still trying, still not successful.

Good news on the referral front, hopefully you'll get some answers soon.

My DP is due to give a semen sample in the next couple of weeks so perhaps we'll get some answers too but, I know I'm being very negative here, I doubt there'll be anything wrong with it and we'll be back to square one.

winkle2 · 18/07/2012 22:29

Oh honey I feel the same but what can we do but hope? X

It's rare but you could be like me. I don't get positive tests until I'm at least 6 weeks pg. This time I had a blood test at (what turned out to be) 5 weeks, that came back negative. I finally got a positive at 8 weeks but they didn't believe me and made me wait four weeks for a scan. When I had it the sonographer said "oh good, this can be your 12 week scan too).

I have had long cycles and then a very heavy period before a couple of times. I think they were chemical pregnancies.

Thougt I'd update this thread to let you know I finally got AF after a 43 day cycle!

That was a bit of a mammoth one, wasn't it? Better luck with the next one Smile

I took epo last month which I'm worried lengthened my cycle. So Im ditching it this month.
